I have a 2019 Tiger 800 XRT and the alarm has totally knackered the battery. (To be fair, it probably needs replacing anyway by now.) At the moment, it's on a permanent trickle charge in my garage, but the battery is so damaged now that even if I ride for about an hour the battery is dead again after about 20 minutes or so and needs a booster shot to restart the engine so I can get home. So I obviously want to replace it, but as soon as I disconnect the battery, it sets the alarm off, even with the alarm in 'ferry mode.' Does anyone know how I disconnect the alarm so that I can change the battery?
Me I would unplug the alarm and replace with the replacement wiring. Then take the alarm and drop it into a bucket. Sorry I know this is of no help. But there is a sequence to to shut them of and I am sure some of the wiser ones will be along soon to rescue you
@TheOtherDennis Don't know what you have fitted as an alarm. But usually if it is the Datatool fitted by Triumph it just plugs in. If removed there is a spare loom wiring harness that you plug in to take the place of the alarm. It annoys me sometimes as Triumph Dealer remove the item to fit the alarm and keep it. Maybe ask your local dealer if they have one lying around. I suppose it is just called an alarm bypass circuit.
Ok, thanks. The nearest Triumph dealer to me is a good distance away, but I'll ask, see what they have.
I bypassed my datatool 4 alarm by linking pins 1 &2 and 3&5 with some wire or get a bypass plug. that was on a 2012 tiger.
