Today I joined @stevelovatt to ride with Andy for the last time. A very sad day, a beautiful service with many friends and family in attendance. Steve and I met a couple of Andy’s local drinking buddies and shared many fond memories of Andy in the two different lives. His local life with old friends and his biker life with both forum members and my time touring with him. I will miss Andy’s company and quick whit.
I want to put a big thank you out to @steve lovatt who came and gave me support on Andy’s last ride. Many thanks Steve you are a diamond
@Wessa, I'm so glad that you and @steve lovatt rode with Andy for that one last ride. I'm sure it was a very sad day for you and all of Andy's family and friends but glad to know that the service was beautiful and well attended. It must have been really nice to have the opportunity to meet up with Andy's drinking buddies to exchange memories of your times with Andy. Again, Steve, I'm sorry for your loss. Andy will certainly be missed. And by many, I'm sure.
Oh my god, I’ve only just seen this. I didn’t know he was suffering with cancer. I can’t remember the last time I logged in here, and this was a huge shock. I liked Andy a lot and enjoyed his company. We had a laugh cooking together on the Isle of Skye a few years back for everyone at a GMU. RIP Andy and condolences to his other friends and family.
@BonnieCat See what happens when you do a disappearing act. You know we need you here in our midst. Nice to see you back even though its a sad time for you with the news.
It makes you stop and think about your own mortality when you get a bit older. Even though I’m at retirement age I’m still working. Maybe it’s time to stop before it’s too late.
@BonnieCat Yes exactly. I was asked to stay on as every one rumoured we were going to close. I said chaps it is time to go and i don't care about the redundancy. Life is to short. But i am going nowhere neither are you so enjoy the forum
Hi Nikki good to hear from you. It was a very sad day, but for Andy it was the end to his suffering, bless him. On the day of his funeral Steve Lovett and I rode as out riders for Andy’s last journey. Are you back in the uk, the last I heard from you was that you were coming home?
Cancer is such a horrible disease as I know from experience with my partner. I’m glad you gave Andy a good send off. As for me I’m still in the Netherlands and will be for the foreseeable. I am visiting my brother in the Wirral for Christmas but then back here again straight after. For political reasons I’ve decided my future is better off here than the UK.
Very Sad about Andy, He was a lovely bloke. it makes you realise how short our time here is. Do what you can while you can. RIP Buddy .
Enjoy seeing your brother for the holiday. It is good that you have settled with your home in the Netherlands. Stay lucky.
