From a 2009 Speed Triple to a 2018 Speed Triple RS marks 11 years Triple ownership. That's coming to an end. Just traded the RS against a 2024 Ironstone Speed Twin 1200 Mega excited, though it probably won't see any tarmac till Spring, the wee RE Interceptor will see me through till then.
I had/have the same scenario but one level down on cc's. I had a 2009 street triple R, now owned by my eldest. I have a 2019 Street Triple RS and also the same age Triumph Street Twin, I enjoy both bikes for totally different reasons and both give a different day out. I think the biggest issue you'll need to get used to is the rev range difference; My RS revs to 13000, whereas the ST is all done by 7000 approximately. Enjoy.
Don't worry! I changed from my TIGER 1200 to a T120 Black Edition as an additional bike and loved it!!!
Same here. I just traded my '06 Speed Triple for a 1200 Speed Twin. The rev range is the major difference for me and the brakes. Man these things bite. I had sintered brakepads, new stainless brakelines and brakfluid, but these monoblocs are something else. Super excited
I've has my Speed Twin 1200 for 16 months and 9000 miles so far. It pulls hard up to 4000rpm and then starts to run out of puff. But change up and off you go again. Fantastic brakes too, you need them to scub off that speed. The OEM tyres were rubbish for the UK, but after fitting Michelin Road 6s the bike was transformed. Enjoy it.
Sounds like an aftermarket cam would help that if there's one available. My 900 was like that but the TEC cam I fitted was what should've been in in the first place, far far better.
