Evening all. I’ve been looking at new jackets and trousers today. Oxford was my initial choice but doesn’t fit me very well, too tight in the arms or two big if I get the next size. Trousers not what I want at all as no pockets and no zips at the ankle area. I even tried o the Rukka stuff but the trousers have one pocket only. My question is, has anyone bought the Triumph gore tex Alder jacket and trousers? If so what do you think? Thanks in advance.
Just ordered a jacket this morning from Webbs. £285 down from £650. Only read a couple of reviews but seem to be a good buy
Well that was a complete waste of time. I’ve just been to Triumph in Shipley. I wanted to try on and most likely buy the Adler Gore Tex suit. They don’t stock it!!! Just not interested at all. Suggested I buy it on line! Just how do I try it on to A, see if it fits and B, see if I like it? Very, very poor. I won’t be using them again.
Triumph certainly lost a good sale today. I have tried on and ordered new jacket and trousers from Sportsbikeshop. The Rukka ones, not much dearer than the Adler suit with the Black Friday discount. I did try to buy Triumph but to no avail. Oh well their loss.
Not sure what the problem is in buying online and then seeing if it fits? Surely that’s par for the course these days.
I agree with Glen2926. I am not interested in buying clothing or footwear on line, I want to see and feel the goods to make sure they fit and 'feel right'. You cannot rely on sizes from different manufacturers or the overall fit - not the fit of the overalls!!
Personally I prefer to try clothes and shoes on before I buy. I'm short legged/longish in the body, and I have pretty wide feet, so often have to go up or down a size to get the best compromise fit. And then you get the crazy situation of brands like Alpinestars, where their advertised sizes are way smaller than claimed. Just got some new AS riding trousers, but there's no way I'm the XXL I had to go up to to be able to do up round the waist... One thing I've noticed of late is that most bike shops hold no stock of kit any more. I suppose they cannot compete with the likes of Sportsbikeshop, Infinity etc al but it's a shame all the same.
My local Helmet City branch, in Cheddar, Somerset carries a wide range of sizes of a variety of motorcycle kit in several different price points.
Aye, well the jacket and trousers came today. Neither fit me. So it’s print out a return label, parcel them up, take them to the shop for return and then wait until I hopefully get a refund. It was certainly much easier just going to the shop, trying on different sizes and then buying the ones that fit.
Yes, I get that but as you’ve found it’s becoming increasingly difficult these days. Can’t you just exchange them for a size up?
No, it’s get a refund and then re order. I’ll send them back and might just wait until I go across the channel in May and go into a motorcycle clothing shop over in France, Germany etc. I’ve dealt with FC Moto De before and they were very good. This was pre brexit days so no import duty etc. if I buy over there I guess I won’t pay any import duty.
I have bought quite a few Triumph jackets over the years. Their sizing used to vary a lot, sometimes I was a medium whilst other times I was a large. This seems to have improved over the past couple of years, now I am medium all day long - I have bought two leather jackets, a waterproof jacket and numerous long/short sleeve t-shirts all in medium and all a perfect fit. Their kit can be expensive but is usually good quality and can often ge had for a lot less in one of there sales. The sale prices on both Triumphs online shop and Webbs site are amazingly cheap and an absolute bargain - where else could you get a quality gore-tex jacket for under £300 and as a bonus free postage and returns. I have also found their customer service to be first class.
