Great rideout today around the Kyles of Bute with some friends, BMW S1000R, BMW 1200GS, Aprilia Tuono 1100 V4 and my Speed 400..... fortunately they didn't hold me up too much!!!
On The Way to Cape May - Sung to the tune of "On the Way to Cape May." I took a 152-mile round trip to Cape May, NJ today. This is our southernmost shore point. It's where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean and a popular resort area. Still pretty busy, even after Labor Day when the shore town activity usually winds down. It was overcast all day, and cool. Perfect riding weather. On the way down I noted the trees are starting to change color already. I hit a squall passing through Buena Vista on Rt 54 on the way home. Got a little wet, but Miss Maggie needed a bath anyway. The wreck of the SS Atlantus, an experimental WW1 vintage concrete ship that sunk just offshore. Cape May Lighthouse Fire Control Tower. One of a series of WW2 costal defenses to guard the opening to the Delaware Bay from German Navy activity Cape May is a Mecca for bird watchers. It's one of the biggest draws on the east coast for these types because it is a direct southerly migration route across the Delaware bay for flocks of all types heading south. Cape May is a pretty toney area. Here are a couple of the run-down, flea bag hotels.
@ajc400: Thanks for the great pictures! - You made my day with: "... They didn't hold me up to much!"
@Fork Lock: Thanks for the great pictures and the very interesting historical report! I really enjoyed it!
Just a local little pootle about for me today, went to see my dads resting spot at the cemetery and then thought I should capture a nice autumn scene with the bikes new shiny bits sorted (carbon heel guards and machined headlight bezel).
Yesterdays random rideout, well test ride actually, a bit cool when setting off but sheet ice across the road caught me by surprise out Stape way I must have gone 1 mph downhill with left foot on the floor and right covering the back brake, not ideal on someone elses brand new bike on a steep downhill switchback So up near Whitby, then back via Goathland. Nice bike and not bought yet but.......
The wifes not helping here "Look! I'm fed up of watching Youtube of this bike, IF you want one, just buy the bloody thing!!!!" Err ok darling Sublime messaging works
Well I've put the potential purchase into the hands of the shop I've given them one of my other bikes to sell and once done, will then pay the balance. New registration comes out 1st March so they need to get their act together
