HI, 2010 Thruxton 900 efi with 3500 miles. i am the 2nd owner and am trying to remove the original bar end sideview mirrors. the clamps that go inside the handle bars are stuck. i tried penetrating oil and threading the bolt through a wood block and tapping on the block but the inserts aren't coming out. any ideas? thanks in advance.
Try loosening the fastener a few turns then tap the end of the fastener with a mallet which should free the insert?
It's an expanding anchor bolt type fastener. Screw the bolt back in a few threads (about 6mm) then tap the end of the bolt with a rubber mallet / hammer until it pushes the insert free inside the bar. You should then be able to pull out the whole assembly.
