    update
    • got the 36mm socket
    • removed the cover of the front sprocket being careful with the quick shifter sensor and it's cable
    • tried the nut with a large breaker bar ... hmm I'm turning the engine
    • got my daughter to step on the rear brake
    • still no joy and it got dark , will continue tomorrow
    • search in youtube and found this video, no use of the rear brake and a bit of tapping on the tool making things a lot easier:

It seems a common problem, often it can be removed with a windy/rattle gun, (not sure how well that translates across the pond, but it's an air or electric powered impact driver). Any handy?

an impact gun, no I do not have one nor any of my friends
my wife has objected the installation of a large air compressor where she parks her car ;) so no, I have not purchased one
I know there are electric ones
The nut has traces of locktite... on my previous service I told the dealer the nut had come loose I think they added some, I let them sort it

New chain, sprockets and chain guides
    It rides very smoothly
Only $50 for the labor and about 90 mins to ride back and forth to the dealer in busy city traffic
