I well understand that "illness" called accessoryitis, @Pegscraper! I'll be eager to see more photos of your new bike with all of your goodies installed. Do you have more photos posted elsewhere on the forum yet or just in this thread so far? I've been lax with my forum visits lately. And speaking of accessoryitis, I've nearly finished with my accessorizing (sadly for me, but not my pocketbook!). I picked up my Street Glide last Saturday with my Empire Collection installed (mirrors, floorboards, shifter peg and brake pedal pad, highway pegs, derby cover, etc. minus the grips which are backordered). I also had a docking system with a sissy bar with backed installed to serve as a way to secure my travel luggage. I can take the sissy bar on and off fairly easily and will usually leave it off. And I decided to get saddlebag guards both to have a place to further strap down and secure my travel bag and (hopefully unnecessary) in the case of a tip-over. So those goodies plus the Stage II upgrade I had installed a few weeks ago and I'm (nearly) done. Still waiting on the Empire Collection grips and two other things--different handlebars and a different seat. The ones I want of both of those things are not yet available because of changes made to the 2024 Street Glides. So I'm eagerly waiting for Le Pera (seats) and either KST or KhromeWerks (bars) to get parts for my bike into production.
Now THAT is an accessory list! I obviously need to up my game Sandi! ENJOY! I've still got the Denali air horn to fit which is proving a bit more difficult than on the Street Scrambler due to lack of space on the new 1200 but I have a plan. I'm also eyeing up some new CNC machined, fold up brake and clutch levers.
@Sandi T such a master piece, congrats I went to a store to get grips, as the original ones are starting to wear, and being heated it is not cheap to replace them The store is owned by a new friend I met during the trip to Baja... I got also a pando base layer, and a pair of Saint jeans, under his recommendation that this will be better for riding in hot weather I tried the outfit today during a 4 hr ride, temps up to 33°C and l was not cooking Another advantage is that I feel much more comfortable The wind noise is down !! this snug top does not deflect the wind to my neck, in comparison with big bulky jacket The jeans also make me feel more connected with the bike The 2 garmets are expensive, but so far I'm very happy
So, did you have a goodies list before you went into the dealer, was it just an impulse buy, or did it start out as "just a couple of small things I want to add"
Engine Bars landed today, stainless steel but the wrong colour for me so now at the powder coaters for a satin black finish....
I think your current game is sounding pretty good too, @Pegscraper! I’ll be curious to see those fold up break and clutch levers. I’m also interested in the airhorn. How does that work, pray tell? The horns on all of my bikes are pretty puny, I have to say. Too bad we can’t post sound bytes.
Thanks, @Markus. I’m pretty pleased with it. I’ll be happy to get a new seat on it for sure, and some handlebars that put me in a bit better position for long-haul trips. Funny you should call me a bike stylist. I joke that I don’t decorate houses, I decorate motorcycles. Even though it’s not cheap to do bike mods, in the long run I think it’s way less expensive than remodeling the kitchen! That’s my rationalization anyway.
That’s a good question, @littleade. When I very first started riding and did some mods to my bike, I didn’t know much about what I was doing nor did I have an idea of what I really liked. So early on I made a some less than optimal choices. But after a couple of years I got the hang of modding my machines. Consequently, when I get a new bike now I have quite a clear idea of what I want the end result to look and feel like. So I do a lot of thinking and planning and looking and figuring before buying my parts. Actually, I find that part of the fun. I really enjoy customizing my bikes to my tastes and needs. I do have to add, however, that I’m pretty much a planner for everything else in my life, too! The planning is also one of the things I truly enjoy about the motorcycle trips that we do. That all said, I am working on becoming a little bit more “impulsive“. Or let’s just call it spontaneous.
Have you had that Sena model before @PhannieNL? I have the Sena 50R version and like it a lot. I have not heard of the beeline moto case. Could you post a photo for us?
This is the air horn I have and it's waaayyyy better than the pathetic, "meep meep" offerings we get on bikes in the UK. I suspect US spec bikes might be the same. Thanks for the link, @Pegscraper! Both of those parts look very nice indeed. My tail tidy on my Triumph is an Evotech. They seem to make terrific parts. I think I'll check out that horn for my bikes as they all make that sad, pathetic "meep meep" sound that you talked about.
