I must be getting old; another fond part of my childhood has died. I loved The Man From U.N.C.L.E., as a child (and being a little blondie) I always wanted to be Illya Kuryakin; Napoloeon Solo was always impressively suave but Illya was the cool, thoughtful one. So many great roles over the years, The Great Escape, Colditz, Sapphire & Steel and NCIS to name a few. My family are big fans of NCIS and we were all very fond of Ducky. There was a lovely scene in a past series of NCIS where I think its McGee asks Gibbs "I wonder what Ducky looked like when he was younger?", Gibbs came straight back with "Illya Kuryakin." RIP Ducky.
One of my favourite TV series as a kid in the 60's, I still have a Man from U.N.C.L.E annual in the loft somewhere and had the Corgi model car but that's long gone. I also remember him from The Invisible Man series from the 70's. The Colditz series was also a must watch back then. Some of the filming was done at Sissons mill at Calver in Derbyshire not far from us.
Yes I remember the Man from U.N.C.L.E. too, compulsory viewing as a young lad, Illya was so cool. RIP David, the Men are back together again
