My Striple will be two years old in October. Ditto the RAC membership that goes with it. So a quick email to RAC customer services enquiring what the renewal cost was going to be and what it would cost to add the Ducati onto my membership. The response amazed me as I was informed that it is a personal membership and not vehicle specific. So these past two years I have, unknowingly, been covered on the Duke and my Beemer as well as the Striple. The actual wording of the advice received “I can advise the membership you hold is a personal based policy, meaning you are covered as a driver/rider or passenger in/on any car/bike (non business related) So we do not need to be notified of a specific registration.”
In addition @Baza to your comments above, when renewal time comes for " personal membership" think carefully about what vehicle you state. When my 765 was only a few months old I used that registration despite really wanting the joint cover for the wifes benefit on her ten year old car. Renewal quote was far better using the 68 plate bike than a 58 plate Seat. Recently we put that to the test again by using our 72 plate car as the main noted vehicle. £90 / year for joint personal cover including homestart.
Point to check, last yearI had an off that meant my bike had to be recovered, I had a couple of RAC memberships, a personal one and one that came free with my bike insurance, I called my personal one and they informed me that the cover did not include accident recovery, the one with my insurance did, Although to be on the safe side I just told them my bike wouldn't start, I didn't have to give them a reason
If you check your fineprint if things haven't changed since I left the RAC because Tesco changed thevrules and I didn't have enough club card points to pay for it it also covers you if you're a passenger too, so if a friend/relative's car breaks down while you're in it you can call them out.
