Hi everyone, I'm Rob from Watford UK, riding a 1996 Triumph Adventurer. My third Triumph in 45 years. Got a problem though so wanted to join a forum where I might get some solutions without lining the pockets of a local dealer.
Welcome, Rob. I’m actually in Watford as I write… sadly not at Triumph North London but literally over the road at Watford General Hospital
Started bike yesterday from cold -1, no problem, rode 75yds and engine cut as if I'd hit the kill switch. Tried to restart but just get a wining noise when pressing the button. Obviously electrical but where to look?
Starter solenoid Maybe, but if the starter dont conect to the flywheel you could have a sprag clutch issue ( very common on theses bikes) . As Steve Said (wessa) Start at the Battery.
Worth a read, About a month ago I heard an awful snatch after hitting the starter, followed by a seemingly normal start. Since then the bike has killed on me twice after a seemingly normal start. Both times were as I was leaving work. Both times the bike started normally and I weaved through the lot at low revs toward the exit. The exit is pretty close so I probably only ran 10 ~ 15 seconds. As I approached the exit I grabbed the clutch and hit the brakes. At this time the engine stopped with a clank. I see similar symptoms associated with sprag clutch failure. Has anyone else had similar issues with a 1050?
