Has anyone come across yearly motorcycle insurance that covers on road cover for just 6 months with the other 6 months being SORNed?
A different way to solve the same problem (if it is one) is to restrict the mileage? Bear in mind there is still a risk in insuring a bike when it is in the garage and declared 'off road'
Here in Austria we have the possibility that you can put back the license plate temporarily (free choice in the number of days/months!). This reduces the costs massively. The insurance coverage, if covered in the contract, but remains in the "garaged" state! My wife does this regularly the "cold season". I don't, because I actually always ride except for the snow and ice days.
There are a number of insurance companies that offer 3/6 or 9 months insurance, or you can opt for say a 6 months fully comprehensive on road insurance plus 6 months theft only if garaged, unless you have full NCD then any insurance (on road) under 12 months fails to get a NCD, also some insurance companies charge almost as much for a 50/50 split policy.
