Hi all, new to me speed rs. Bike is running really well.

moving up from a 675 the difference is like night and day.

I would appreciate any other owners input on something that’s been bugging me. New to me bike paranoia :)

Noise from the air intake vent at the front of the bike when running.

There is a noticeable noise coming from the vent. If you cover the vent with your hand the noise drops, sounds obvious I know. Cover the noise it quietens :)

I’m hoping it gives an example for someone to check or compare.

I suppose the question I’m asking is does anyone else experience a noticeable noise from the vent area?

It’s not excessive and something I could live with no problems.

If the noise is a characteristic of the model and engine simply sucking the air it needs then apologies for a newbie owners question.

I never noticed it on the 675, however I’m not actually sure where the air intake even was on it so have nothing to compare.

    Thanks in advance.

    Happy riding.

Can't say that I've noticed anything unusual on my RS. If something is amiss it could be that the airbox has been removed and not put back properly? Or it could just be dead insects or even a stone trapped in the intake and rattling about?

    thanks for the reply.

    I’m pretty sure it’s normal.

If anyone gets a chance to have a listen from the vent when they get a minute that would be great. If there is any noise present if you cover does it disappear?

You do get an induction noise from the air box and that is what people like, and yes if you restrict air flow then the noise will reduce, however it should not be restricted at all, otherwise you get fuelling issues.

Thanks all. I was putting it down to induction noise. Always good to hear others opinions.

private sale and you worry about every noise. The bike is a gem, time to enjoy it.

long nights are just round the corner, looking forward to the summer and some warmer riding.
