Damn! That is BAD news. Avon have long been my favoured tyre - particularly for my British bikes - and, as a West Country company, very important for the regional economy.

Guess I should start stockpiling now - with my annual mileages (and age!) a few pairs of appropriate sizes will probably see me out!

 

A real shame, I have used Avon tyres since the 80s

 

Guess I should hang my head in shame, I did use Avons in my earlier biking years but Metzeler have been my tyre of choice in recent years. Sorry Avon.

 

I think it's just the UK production that is going, not the brand

 

Used to put Avon road runners on my RD 350 in the 90's. Thought they were good sticky tyres. Never good to see a factory close.

 

Man I'm hoping they are still going to be making the spirit tires. I had hopes of getting a set for my bonneville. Kinda explains why I can't find them in the size need anywhere.
