On my list of things to do to the Street twin. Can you give us some real world feedback from before and after once it's up and running?
Checked the tyre pressures and popped the cover back over the T120. Matt black everything and winter rural weather don’t mix. KTM 690 with new adventure tyres will be my occasional quick ride until March, unless we get a freak dry period with no salt left on the roads.
I put one in a thruxton 1200. Honestly it wasn't a huge difference, biggest difference was at the top of the rev range. That was the 1200 though. The earlier 900's (before they got the power upgrade) should be a nice upgrade. It would certainly be one of the first things on my list! Relatively cheap power if you plan on installing it yourself. Put a decat high on your list too!
Decat done. KN filter done. Snorkel off. Vance and Hines need some work but part of the ongoing restoration. Cam yet to purchase but this bike hasn't been ridden anywhere by me yet other than 100 metres to the trailer I'm not in a rush and spring 2023 looks like a suitable target. In the meantime I'm looking forward to mot'ing my Armstrong mt500 for the winter months around the local lanes. Naturally being a British bike it comes with the proverbial essential oil leak that needs resolving before it totally trashes the block paving
A little bit of playing on the lathe tonight. I had to be snappy as wanted to watch MotoGP at 22.00 so decided to tackle the ugly rear shocker washers, see what you think..... Before. So found out some aluminium bar of a suitable diameter and machined one up. After. Quite pleased with that one so did a quick batch of x4 and inside in time for bike racing
Had my MV for 16 years and apart from a new battery and a duff spark plug it hardly missed a beat. Best bike I have ever owned, but running costs are generally not cheap"
This afternoon was looking like the best weather of the week so I decided to get out for a few hours riding, it was also an opportunity to pop into a town and find a bank branch to pay a cheque into (the one in walking distance of home has shut). I was planning on sticking to the more major roads but couldn’t resist a detour down a single-track road I think I’ve only been down once before Last half-hour of ride was under dark skies and rain which the forecast hadn’t mentioned, at least I was wearing my waterproof winter gear so that was OK.
Some more bits processed and the, according to my mate, "a dodgy sexual looking device" is actually the offside exhaust lower cover
Be aware..... There is a limit of £500 on cheques by phone with Santander although I'm not sure if this is across the board with other banks.
I’ve never tested that with my Bank, which is Barclays. Mind if I got a cheque for more than £500 I reckon I would have won the Lottery lol
As of 2021 no such things as cheques anymore here - deemed an archaic method of payment. Banks do not accept or cash them anymore. This poses a problem for American citizens eligible of American pensions living here, as the U.S. only have electronic banking within its borders, and send out pension cheques abroad.
In the UK cheques are an out of date thing yet here is something that always winds me up.... I want to tax a vehicle. Payment is instant by bank transfer and can't be dated so if it's the 30th of the month it goes back to the 1st, one month wasted. I normally pay for 12 months, then subject to weather, cash the tax in for refund accordingly a number of months later. The tax stops that instant and no further use on the public highway allowed. The refund usually arrives within a week by.... yep you guessed it, cheque. You then have to mess about cashing or uploading the cheque. If payment can come out directly then why can't it go back by the same means? Rant over
I understand your pain, which is why I pay monthly by direct debit. Your can SORN your bike easily at any time during the month and re-tax it at anytime after your SORN. All done through the DVLA web site and the bank and no cheques to worry about.
My Barclays account has £1000 limit on paying in cheques via the app. I know as 90 yr old mother-in-law has no internet, smart phone or pc and still only uses cheques - (We do her online shopping for her and she pays us back via cheque). There must be thousands of older people that can't cope with tech - and probably safer for it. (Cheque is a check for our American friends)
Know what you mean about our older ones. I’m guessing the banks will keep branches open for a while longer, but as time passes and more and more people adopt the tech they will progressively close them down.
I wouldn't know really. My sister takes care of my 91 year old mum's affairs. I suppose that's what most people do. Government hasn't got anything to do with it though - it's the bastard banks. They don't care about anything but making money.
