I've got no mates so I generally ride alone. The wife does worry about me riding alone and wants something so she can look up where I am. Is there an app or something for this purpose, just to show my current location?

    Great profile photo!

We (as a family) use "Life360"... But I'm sure there are various others!

It's fine. I'm far too lazy to have an affair

Depending on your phone (crapple or android) it's airtag (apple) or the samsung tag. You can then see where they (you) are but you have to have your phone on you though.

I generally ride alone out of personal preference. We use Apple iPhones and the Find Me app so wife can keep tabs. I also have a iWatch that has fall detection. If I go down it will automatically text an S.O.S. to designated people (my wife and sister in law) as well as call 911 if I don't respond to alert on the phone/watch.

And same here, I can only keep up with one women. I have no time for a 2nd one. =)

Another Life 360 family here. Mainly as my wife has mislaid her phone on more than one occasion so it helps us find that rather where the other person is. Works very well.

A friend of mine tried mountain biking with an apple watch with the alert feature. The first jump triggered it and sent his wife a text which started her panicking while he was having a great time!

You could always try the Live Location feature in WhatsApp.
It allows you to share your location with someone from your contact list for a set period of time. It even has a motorcycle icon that can be used showing the phone’s location on the map.

My Wife has an iPhone and I have a Google Pixel 6 Android so Apple “Find My” is no good in this scenario BUT Google Maps location sharing seems to work for her when I am out and about. I do have Apple AirTags and a Tile as well but these are more for peace of mind if my bikes move when they shouldn’t. ;)

An interesting post, I've been thinking about the same thing with Winter approaching. Not so much for road use but I tend to do more solo green laning in Winter, riding deserted tracks and open moorland, frequently after dark. Yeah, I know it's bad form but enjoyable! I had a get off in total darkness on Abney Moor last year. The bike was fine and I was badly winded but otherwise OK. I always carry a mobile phone but, obviously, the outcome of a more serious injury in such a situation could have dire consequences.

Google maps app already on your phone (android) has a share location feature. I'm sure apple will have something similar without having to download more apps

Isn't there that app in development, was it someone on here...that pings you moving...but in the event of an off it sends an emergency ping to a contact with your location?

    Or did I dream this!?

We've used Google maps, which allows you to share your location with another Google maps user for some time now.

That is a simple and good app to use. No additional cost and can be switched off when not in use. Does need a phone though.

    + 1 on Life360.

Been using it a long time and its great. I use the free version, no need to pay for the subscription version.

Only thing to be aware of is after each ride it tells you what your fastest speed was - could raise eyebrows with the missus o_O

I cut my wife out of my will. She no longer gives a rat's azz where I am or what happens to me!

Seriously, I've never thought about this much. I do ride alone quite a bit, mostly just locally or extended locally. I guess as age continues to creep up, I should consider some app.

I was thinking exactly the same.
I've got it on my phone (but for various reasons I've not actually used it).
I love the fact it will dial out automatically if I've been stationary too long (ie in an accident).
    It's called "Bloodriders'
