Looking for advice regarding pod filters. Has anyone put pod filters on to a Thunderbird triple 900? If so what jetting was done plus did you have any issues. I live in rural Western Australia so no Dyno centres around. Thanks Lez
I had the genuine K&N pods on my zxr1100 Eddie Lawson rep,had to buy the proper dynojet kit at about £100 to get it fueling right,but it ran spot on you may also need a K&N crankcase breather filter if the triumph one goes into airbox.

If DynoJet makes a kit for it I’ll bet you’ll like it. Don’t overstage it, and be careful what you wish for. My experience with DynoJet was outstanding.
Thanks for your reply. Dynojet in the States do have a kit for this bike so I will get one. I'm not interested in tuning the bike but am interested in putting k&n pod filters on.
Well you are tuning the bike to an extent with pods as you need the dynojet kit to increase fuelling to match airflow,it won't run right without it and should include different jets needles and instructions for moving the clips on needles etc but it's easy diy stuff,stages 1 to 3 depending on your setup but stage 3 with pods make sure it's not copies but original K&N
On the early triples , lifting the needles in the vacuum slides is an option ! I did this on a 94 trident !! Used the carbon washers used as insulation under computer motherboard mounting screws. They are about 30/40 thou thick. As I drilled out the vacuum bypass port to quicken throttle response... Put a sport's exhaust 3 into 1 on , dropped about 25/30 kg , each muffler weighed about 14 kg and headers for 3-1 saved a couple more Pod's mightn't affect fuelling enough to need new/bigger jets ??
I am in the process of fiting Pod filters to my 1993 Trident Sprint 900, I have raised the jets to 140 but having trouble finding pods that will fit, the Mikuni carbs are oval in shape which limits options which fit. any suggestions would help please-But not fit standard box back.
I am looking at fitting Pods to my sprint 900 but the Mikuni carb inlets are oval in shape. can not seem to find pods suitable. Thinking of buying round ones and seeing if they can be made to fit has anyone done this. I have tried emailing K&N for advice no reply though, I have spent hours scrolling through Ebay as well but none that match the carbs of my Triumph.
if you have Mikuni carbs which have oval inlet you may have trouble getting pods , i contacted K&N and they said they do not do any that fit
As I said earlier , drill the bypass port's in the carburettor slides! Number drill kit helps, go one number up ! Or go way over size and then lift the needles at least 30/40 thou .. ! A good K & N airbox filter is fine ! The difference between pod's and a K&N box filter isn't measurable! The box filter is easier to adjust for , no need for bigger jets , lifting the needles gives enough fuel.! Putting pod's on , you have to make sure the port in the carburettor body which faces the air box .. isn't covered / blocked off ! It's why the port's are OVAL !!! This is where the carburettor slides and bypass port in the piston interact ! Blocking this makes the carburettor useless and fouls up fuelling. Get this right and throttle response becomes much sharper... !
