I went for a ride out to Bowness in the Lake District last night and spotted 2 new prototype motorcycles, I could not park in the dedicated motorcycle bays they were that big.

I have also made this experience on my trips to the Western Balkans. There are really prepotent / lazy drivers who park our bikers parking. The majority comes from Germany, I have noticed. I photograph these cars very provocatively and ask the drivers if they have novel motorcycles, which I have never seen before. At least one parked his car somewhere else afterwards.

Probably grockles (I know, west country expression... :p) mate - beats me why people go there mind. I think Bowness is the least attractive village on Windermere.

It's not Bowness as a destination it's the roads leading to and from it, some of these are a lot less known, they have mile after mile of "twisties" and it is rare to see another motorcycle and very few cars, in all the years riding these roads I have yet to see either a police vehicle or camera van, it's the same with the Lakeland passes, people tend to gravitate to those known such as Kirkstone, Wrynose, Honister, Wynlatter and Hardknott, however there are others that again see little traffic, although you do need good nerves, for me I can be in the Lakes in less than 15min from home so it makes sense for an evenings ride out, Cumbria in the same time or Yorkshire in 20 mins, it is the same in Scotland they have some fantastic isolated roads that only local people know of. Ride safe all from an ageing Rocker.

Too right - I used to have inlaws in Winster (just off the A5074, opposite The Brown Horse). Great riding roads all around.

We have limited Motorcycle parking in NZ, so if cars park in them, invariably they are keyed or driver window smashed in.:imp:
I do not agree with such action, but it does make me warm inside to see :p
