@Eldon: Yes, they offered the old parts for inspection to us. There was a permanent rattling and trembling before the exchange which has now disappeared my wife reported after the first ride. Interestingly, the spare parts from the TIGER 1200 are cheaper than those from the TIGER 900.
So as the parts were offered for inspection then maybe this wasn't a profiteering exercise but there appears an opportunity for a learning objective here for you; how often do you lubricate and maintain your chains? I personally would have expected a longer life out of good components than what you appear to have achieved but my bikes live on paddock stands so a light chain lubrication takes seconds every ride before getting it out of the garage. Please take this as well meant advice and I'm certainly not having a go but a little maintenance regularly can make quite a difference here. Interesting comment on the price disparity between the two models parts, I wonder why that is?
Had a good blast out this morning!! Although managed to get stuck in a super car traffic jam on the way down the the FOS!!
Friday morning coffee run over to Saltburn by the Sea, followed by a run up the coast to Redcar, cheekily known locally as "the last resort " Parked up next to a GS
@Bolosun: It looks like. My TIGER is equipped with a quickshifter but the clutch is in the last third of usage. Therefore it has to be exchanged then.
A quickshifter should have no more impact on clutch wear than using normal clutch lever. How do they know/measure the wear on your clutch. Did they remove it measure the stack height?
@Bolosun: I think they will change only some parts of it. May be the, I think it's called friction disk, or so. I will see.
@Eldon: We will lubricate the chain more often now. I hope this will extend the usage of the changed parts now. We'll see.
@Eldon: I don't understand the price difference either. The service package price also differs in favor of the 1200 TIGER.
Really? What service includes a clutch strip, potentially without selling you something i.e. strip due to a fault?
How much was the 1200 + 900 service pack/kit? I have a 765rs amongst others and bought a 12000 mile service kit only the other week from a UK Triumph main dealer £120 ish.
Decided to fit bar end mirrors on my 675R..... umm With 765 bars already in place the bar end mirrors needed the throttle moving outwards to look right Problem is on right turns the cables had no slack Another £54 later from Venhill I have +50mm throttle cables
Throttle bodies had to come out just to fit the "pull back" cable as visibility or even finger contact was impossible.
E10 petrol, wow this fuel is a load of shite..... The hose in the picture below is an SAE30 R6 variant and less than 4 years old. Might be worth you guys giving your fuel lines a once over with a torch
Nowt, but at least got it out in the sunshine Still for sale too if anyone interested? See what offers i get as its not getting used.
