Took a run up to Edzell for a coffee, and noticed an American police car that i had seen in Edzell before, i asked a local and the guy who owns it stays there, I'm surprised he's allowed to drive it with police decals and lights on the roof.

Yes that is unusual Dougie. You would have thought the local police would have something to say

Interesting and I suppose you appreciate the fact that you are lighter than you thought, or at least you were dialled in for :p

Got the front all stripped down and cleaned, just waiting for the indicator stalks to arrive, you don't realise how undressed it looks without the fairing,

Wow, what a shame, @Dawsy. :( Hopefully you can get those parts repaired lickety-split. I hope your mate's bike wasn't too bad and that he didn't injure himself. But what a bummer on your bike.:sob:

Cheers @Sandi T His bike was fine as it landed on him! He was a bit achey yesterday but ok. Poor guy used to strong as an ox but has a few health issues so has lost a fair bit of strength lately.
Hopefully by next weekend we can laugh about it:grinning:

Well more like the last week or so.

Last Sunday, to get ready for my upcoming ride with some friends and colleagues to Swanwick in Derbyshire, I cleaned the bike and fitted some eBay bargains (Rear Panniers and tank bag).

    IMG_2285.jpg

The ride on Monday up over the peaks to rendezvous at the Flash Bar was challenging:worried:. Rain & Fog (visibility about 50 yards) and tractor diesel makes the twisty Derbyshire roads rather intimidating, my eyes were on stalkso_O.

    IMG_2288.jpg

Full English at the Flash Bar then on down through Harpur Hill (now out of the clouds) onto various wonderful A and B roads to Swanwick where the sun begins to shine: unamused:, but the bike is now filthy.

    IMG_2292.jpg

Wednesday afternoon ride from Swanwick to Lady Bower and Derwent Reservoirs, Beeline found a great Fun route, even if it didn't know that one of the roads was closed and had been for a while:rolleyes:. Had to sing the Dam busters theme whilst riding alongside the reservoirs and stop a the café for a cheese burger and a coffee:).
    IMG_2294.jpg

The orange Tiger in the picture was one of the bikes riding with me, that fairing and those huge orange panniers made it very hard to see if my other compatriots were keeping up, all I could see was orange.

The return ride was fun and uneventful, all told a lovely afternoon ride in the sun.

For various reasons we all rode home to Cheshire solo at different times, which for me was great; lots of sun, emptyish roads and not worrying about overtakes, junctions and keeping the group together.

    I'm glad I got my bike.

Cleaned bike post Swanwick trip to be ready for DGR tomorrow. And noticed that the ceramic coating on the left exhaust header has cracked up and some bits have flaked away.

    IMG_2283.jpg

    Is this normal?

Anyway looking forward to tomorrow, weather should be good:), except that statement has just jinxed it;).

@RevPaul great photos and write up, so far the two rides I have had in thick fog have been the least enjoyable I have had - I felt very vulnerable so adding diesel to the mix would certainly make me concentrate!!! I hope you have a great day tomorrow at DGR (but you better not have jinxed the weather for all of us planning on being out on our bikes ). Looking forward to seeing your dapper outfit!

My little brother got his license beginning of the week, so I went with him on his test drive for his first motorcycle. After that I gave the bike a good clean, ready for DGR tomorrow!

I clicked on the "like" response emoji, @Dawsy, but only because the guy is basically ok and NOT because I like that your bike fell on him vs. the asphalt or concrete. Although I guess that is a bit of a silver lining for your bike. But I am sorry to learn that your bike landed on him! Glad nothing got broken at least...except for on your bike.

    Cleaning and fettling.
Took the big Harley screen off. She looks and feels very different.

    She's pretty stock but I think she is gorgeous... 20220521_141631.jpg 20220521_141355.jpg 20220521_141338.jpg 20220521_141328.jpg

What a great post, @RevPaul. I think it deserved a thread of its own!

Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. I'd definitely have found that foggy ride very challenging and pucker-producing. Not much fog here in Arizona so I've little practice in conditions like that.

I absolutely loved your very last sentence: "I'm glad I got my bike." I think that simple sentence and sentiment sums it up for most of us! :)

That's cool that your little bro just got his license, @TheBeardedPunk! What bike(s) did he test drive? Have a great time at DGR. Please share some photos with us! I'll miss doing it this year but sadly there's no event in Tucson this time around. Hopefully someone will step in and up and will organize and sponsor it next year.
