Hello people of this forum! I have recently joined the Triumph brand with a used 2018 Striple 765 RS. So far its a great motorcycle but while i was searching around, i saw that the previous owner had installed a Skyrich LFP 2 Plus Battery which is a lithium one with 180 ampere on cold start (idk if im saying that correctly but i hope u get what i want to say)

My suspicions started because the bike wasnt starting just as fast as the ones in the videos. I mean, when i push the ignition button, the combustion cycles are kinda slowish-lazy. Battery is almost new and full btw.

Now, the local dealers and an electrical mechanic advised me to swap the battery for the OEM one immediately because there is a possibility it would fry the rectifier and the ignition, since this motorcycle is no good with lithium and you should always have the Yuasa YTX 9 BS (i think thats the OEM). But before i go any further i would like to hear your opinion and knowledge on this subject guys.

    Thanks a lot!

Had lithium in my 2008 America for 4 or 5 years and no problems ! But it doesn't get cold enough in most parts of Australia to cause poor battery response.
Cold can cause low amperage and voltages when cranking/starting.
As long as the charging system is working , the battery isn't a problem ! But very cold temperatures can reduce battery performance considerably in Lithium ion battery !

No no, cold isn't the problem in Greece either. Thing is, 4 people told me to stay away from Lithium batteries because they can mess up the bike's rectifier & ignition. That's the odd thing.

Lithium batteries are voltage seen but should have a management module built into them. Having said that you do need to make sure that that the electrical infrastructure on the bike is up to dealing with it.

Personally, the bike didn’t have one as OE, I would go for a quality AGM one. The Odyssey AGM I put on my Ducati in 2010 is still giving sterling service. It is on an Optimate 24/365 but I don’t ride it on a daily basis.

Yeah, i think thats why everyone is telling me to swap my battery. I think the stock battery will do just fine then.
