Words in this case tell more. Emojis wouldn't tell you I'd moved one letter and that alone gave me the final solution

Maybe, but you didn’t say whether the first line had just correct letters or correct places as well. The emojis would indicate that. Your second line would have looked something like this so it’s obvious where the misplaced letter should go. As the saying goes “words fail see sketch”. Just leg pulling here , as I said, idle mind that refuses to switch off
