Hey guys, just wanted to introduce myself. I have a 16 speed triple r which I am the original owner. I'm 49 years old and love to ride sport bikes. But more than riding them I love to spend time in the garage working on them as well as classic cars and small boats, or for that matter anything that i can get my hands on. I also have a 08 Hayabusa and a 12 motoguzzi v7 racer. As far as the speed triple goes...a medium sized doe jumped in front of me while I was motivating at about ...well let's just say too fast. It was in the middle of nowhere on a very dark but straight two lane road at 1:45 am. Bam! And that was that, after nearly 25 years of motorcycling I had my first accident. I love that bike so much I had to fix it. Replaced everything with dealership bought oem parts and put it back together just like it rolled out of the showroom. So I got another season out of it and then one night again at about 2:00 am I crashed. But this time it was a MAJOR crash. Bike sustained alot of damage. But like I said I love this bike and had to fix it. So this time I spent alot of time and alot of money to restore and rebuild this motorcycle into one of the best speed triples I have ever seen. Stripped all the powdercoat off the frame, swingarm, brackets and mounts, and just about anything else with powdercoat on it then hand polished, brushed or filed and tooled the parts. custom oz wheels, paint and vinyl details a ton of carbon fiber parts(29 in total) and eliminated all the gov't junk. sai delete,o2 delete, evap delete, added a power commander with a dyno tune. low mount single exhaust (mostly for looks, I know it runs a bit better with the high mount twin muffs but I like to see the single sided swing arm and that beautiful ohlins rear shock) Besides after all I've done to this bike and the power commander with a day of tuning on the dyno It is now a certified land rocket. Anyway I just wanted to say hi to the forum as it has helped me more than a few times during this build.
Hi on3. Welcome to the forum. I think you've technically had at least two Speed Triples at this point. If you have photos of that rebuild it would be interesting to see the fruits of your labour. You don't say whether you came off badly in either of those crashes but it sounds like you're still on two wheels, so that's good!
Lovely bike! Can I please ask about the coffman exhaust? I'm just wondering which model is it for as I asked pam (at coffman) if they were going to make one and it was a nope!
I made a mock up one out of cardboard shipping tube and pvc pipe (even painted it to look like a coffman) and then after I sent gary at coffman a picture of it (he thought it was real) he seemed impressed and agreed to make one for me and duplicate my prototype as long as I shipped it to him.
