And again the last two days. Is it possible to block mama Hadija? Getting a little tired of scrolling through the rubbish to find the interesting threads.
Do we have anyone managing this forum? Or is it just left to run on its own? All of the other forums I use have moderators that deal with these sort of things.
@Havit is the moderator. @Rob owns the forum but he’s notoriously absent and difficult to get hold of. The forum runs but it isn’t kept up to date. It’s running on quite an old version of Xenforo that’s out of support.
Seems we have two more unsavoury new members going by the names Originals and Easton2. I’ve reported the threads I’ve come across. Should we message @Havit directly when we spot fake new members?
Just one more on my ignore list. Last thing I'm going to do is let myself be bothered by that bullshit.
I do not frequent this site as much anymore. TOO MUCH popup ads. TOO MUCH spam. If the operators of this site cannot get it sorted they are not trying hard enough. I spent a lot of my down time elsewhere these days....J.D.
I've taken this route lately, too. The moment I see spam pop up I click on that new "members" avatar and then click Ignore. Then at least I don't have to look at it and scroll past it. It does make me a bit nervous that @Rob seems to be so absent and that, per @Octoberon, the forum software is so out of date.
You should be able to eradicate the pop-ups with an ad-blocker. I don't get any of those on the site, even if my subscription expires. Browsers can block pop-ups, too.
Not sure why, might just a be a glitch, but I can't ignore the one (easton2) that's showing up all over my 'new posts' page. Clicking the name does nothing.
That's interesting I succeeded in ignoring "Easton2" but hadn't got "Originals" and now clicking on either avatar has no effect and both sets of posts are still appearing. But I can still ignore anyone else if I want to (not that I would) Maybe the spammers know a way around being ignored?
I thought I might've ignored that account already but it isn't in my list. Still not sure what that's about. I ended up marking the posts as read. We'll see what happens next.
What l found with lgnore is that it only seems to work if you do it while the "member" is live. If they get removed but their posts are not deleted, you can no longer ignore them. Same as former members who have left and had their login and other details removed, but whose posts remain.
Rob was here about a week ago, or at least he logged in. Doesn’t look like he read any of the messages mentioning him though. Or he ignored them.
One thing I will say about the spammers and spam activity in here- This site lets them run amok like no other forum I've ever been on, and I've been doing various forums since 2007. They are virtually given access to the front door keys and allowed to stand in the foyer and antagonize the residents at will. Not a single other forum I've ever been on has had this problem. In fact most are spam-free. I'm on another Triumph site even smaller than this one(make no mistake, this is a pretty small site) and the issue is non-existent. It is what it is, don't shoot the messenger. This is certainly pretty much still the best Triumph site with the other one I'm on running a close 2nd, IMO of course. If you let something like this actually get to you then you are to be envied. Apparently you have no real problems in life.
