Having grown up in Minnesota, @Fork Lock, I can commiserate with you. I remember all too well how depressing it was for the holidays to be over and to face a bleak, dark, snowy January...and February and March and.... Hang in there!
Just to clarify, @Octoberon, I am agreeing that I need to learn how to take better photographs, not that you need to.
You nailed it, Sandy! That is exactly it. I'm OK till New Years is over. Then there's that long slog till March. There are two kinds of people in New Jersey. Those who are leaving and those who wish they could.
Had a wander around Mounts Bay yesterday, happened to catch sight of the St. Michaels Mount school run. Owned by the National Trust there's a small community of their workers living on the island, the island is accessible by a causeway at low tide, the rest of the time the amphibian is deployed to get the children to school and back. Top trumps the usual Range Rover.
My girlfriend (and eventually wife) used to live in Marazion. I lived just outside Penzance myself for a few years. Nice to see the ol' Mount again.
Reversed locations then, we used to live near the Peak District (Notts end), moved down here almost 20 years ago.
My journey wasn't quite that straightforward. I was already in the Peak District, then moved down to Cornwall for a few years and kept my house in Yorkshire. Didn't end up staying for one reason and another so moved back about 3 years ago. My Mum moved down in the early 90's so I've been a regular visitor for a long time. Not so much in the last couple of years though. It's a lovely place - I quite miss it.
