Hello, My 675 Street Triple 2015 with 15k miles has tight spot on chain and I'm told it needs new chain and sprockets in forseable future. Do I go for Triumph genuine parts or a premium aftermarket set? Price not the primary consideration as I want quality and long lasting replacements. Thanks
Personally, aftermarket on chain and sprockets for me. Standard c&s seem to be not of the best quality imho and aftermarket do last longer. Obviously, needs to be maintained etc for them to last.
Triumph don't make chains. They just buy in something like s standard DID chain and put a markup on it. Best to buy aftermarket yourself.
I recently changed mine. Went for DID heavy duty gold chain, supersprox and JT rubberised front sprocket
A bit of good advice from another forum ..... The set you have a link to does not have a cushioned front sprocket for quieter running.....something I would steer clear of. My recommendation is: Front sprocket with cushioned rubber ring from either Triumph or Oberone (something like that) Chain - Top spec DID / Renthal / RK or Tsubaki (who I have been told are top o the tree Rear sprocket - Triumph or Supersprox for long life (or any other steel chain)...but if you like light and don't mind changing the sprocket more often, go for the Aluminium ones (Renthal, Talon etc) All IMO of course Usual caveats apply, but I think the really important bit is about the cushioned gearbox sprocket - very important on these bikes. Good luck.
