It’s worth watching the film they made of his life “Sex and drugs and rock and roll” with Andy Serkis playing Ian... he had some great players about him, But Norman Watt-Roy is just fantastic.
and the guy played 013 gauge strings... Very powerful left hand. There with one of the most underrated (to my opinion) blues player, Albert King. Very accurate player, smooth controlled tone. I like it. And I like the fact he plays a Flying V (usually preferred as a rock metal axe). Saw him live with Gary Moore in Paris sometime in the nineties.
He played upside down strung guitar too…about 3/4 of the way through, King does a quick tune of the b string… slick as cobra strike
Great song, Biff. Budgie were a great band, seemingly lost in the mists of time for the most part. Sorry to hear about your parents. Rough to lose them at all but particularly in such a short space of time.
