After our federal government has not managed to motivate large parts of the population to vaccinate, Austria is as of today again in lockdown! This annoys me immensely, because I have already received the third sting, the booster vaccination, like many others. At the weekend, in our capital, in VIENNA, over 40,000 people demonstrated against these measures. Fortunately, the situation has not escalated as in Belgium, where it came in BRUSSELS and also in the Netherlands in ROTTERDAM to real street battles with the police! In the current lockdown, you are only allowed to leave the house or apartment to work and to get essentials. As encouragement I have posted you a few photos of the last hike with my wife from the PRIGGLITZ area and the RED WALL there. It was a beautiful hike with about 1000 meters of altitude.
I hope the lockdown doesn't last to long for you. On a selfish note I'm hoping to go to Austria next year.
Dunno why people believe ‘experts’ on the internet even if it kills them or (more importantly) others. If someone wants to deny gravity then good luck to them. If they have to push 20 innocent people over a cliff to get their chance, then I’m not so enamoured with concept of the ‘freedom’ to do ‘anything’ you want. Oh heck we’re in danger of having another pointless argument. SQUIRREL!!!
Yes very argumentative @Cyborgbot . Mind I'm with you, how the antivaxer's can continue with their crusade against the compeling evidence on the success of the vaccines just pisses me right off.
Hopefully just a short pre Christmas boot up the arse! (Nockalmstrasse has to be ticked off in June after many years of getting closer and closer!)
Markus What wonderful scenery and great pictures. Hope you are not incarcerated for to long and we get more great snaps. Joe.
Thanks for your comment. If the weather forecast is correct, it should start snowing in our area from Friday. So I can then open the snowshoe hiking season 2021 with my wife. Of course, I'll put new photos online again. The stay outdoors for recreational purposes is allowed here in Austria despite lockdown.
It's interesting to me to get perspective from outside of the US. Here we're all over the place on vax, and much of it is political. It kind of sounds that's how it is elsewhere. Overall, a giant mess. One I'll be glad to be rid of sooner rather than later.
Hi Marcus, I agree entirely with what you say re the vaccinations, back to those lovely photos, Austria is a wonderful place for Mountaineering, climbing and white water kayaking, I have had the pleasure of climbing some really nice routes there, I remember Kayaking the Inn in spate following the train a sit ran down the side of the river. There are some great Via Ferrata routes as well. Stay safe
Love your photos Markus ! Here in Southern California the restrictions have been less lately. The wife and I are old. We both have had 3 doses of the vaccine and are still cautious. For recreation, we go to our cabin in the mountains. Nature heals both body and soul. History tells us these things by design, eventually run their course. All the plagues in history did come to an end eventually. We just have to be safe in the interim. Be safe. ...J.D.
