Weather’s been rubbish all week, so gave her a clean and pumped the tyres with my new air gauge.
Managed to hang a canvas of her new, on my first ride, that I finally received

 

A little lick of paint,headlight rims,footpegs,rear hub.

 

Very nice, but not mine. They were created by graphic artists in NZ, before digitisation of pictures by a computer, with artist placing every pixel.
There were many in the collection of numbered prints (friend had Bowie -Changes), and I’ve had mine for 30+ years.

 

Went out yesterday between the showers, found that the roads are very slippery! could see the diesel spills from lorries on the roundabouts, why do they over fill their tanks? Bleddy cold too! even in full leathers! but had a few knee downs.

Forecast was for good weather so couldn't miss the opportunity for a day out.



Decided to explore a new road...



Perhaps wasn't the best time of year for that. There was soon grass growing through the middle of the tarmac, and once I got down into the valley with overhanging trees, the narrow track was covered with damp mud and leaves. In the steep bits I was grateful for the cleaner line made by other four-wheeled traffic and was glad I didn't meet any, because there was no room to pass and it's doubtful if I could have held balance with feet or tyres if I had to stop on the slimy road.

All told, I was out 7.5 hours (long enough for batteries to run out in heated socks) and satnav said I'd been riding for 6 hours. With the nights drawing in, won't be able to do that again until springtime.

 

That's what you call a grand day out, well done.

I bought the "up and over" handle bar risers on line (EBAY). Pricey. They arrived today and I installed them. They are very well made. They are machined aluminum. I got the silver colored ones. They came with all the required hardware.

The install was pretty straight forward. Everything fit up well. As you probably know the 1" up and 1" closer aftermarket risers don't require adjusting or replacing any of the cables. There's enough play in the cables to accommodate the extra distance.

They DO make a difference in comfort! I sit up a bit straighter in the saddle. I don't feel hunched over. I'm 6'2" tall and that little bit of extra height and the bar being a bit closer to me is a relief.

I wanted to retain the "Triumph" logo yoke that caps the stock risers and attach it to the new risers. I'll have to fiddle with it. Once I put it on, it seemed to fit, but the hex bolts just didn't seem to line up exactly and felt a bit funny trying to thread them in. Out of fear of cross-threading the hex bolts, I went with the caps that came with the set.

As an afterthought, I bought some 1/2 inch metal hole plugs at Home Depot and snapped them in over the hex bolts holding the riser caps on. It gives it a nice, finished look.

I also put a 3/8 inch cap over the left front axle nut and a 3/4 inch one fit on the right side axle nut. You need to bend the little petals on the underside of the hole plugs out a bit with needle nosed pliers to get them to go over the hex bolts on the riser caps.

 

Hurtling up and down the high alps had taken its toll on my brake pads, so I replaced them with these.

 

Then I took some harpic and elbow grease to the exhaust.

 

I like this. I'm going to be doing that next weekend after my ride out. Thanks for sharing the results!

This one. Excellent stuff - I applied it with a brush, left it on for 10 minutes or so, then rinsed with plenty of water.

Had a couple of hours on the tiger today. Called at Midway for a cuppa and bacon buttie. Cool rather than cold. A bonus ride this late in the year

 

2002 Speed Triple 955i;

It's on another thread but today I replaced my vacuum hoses with silicone ones. A satisfying little job...and all went well.

6mm (internal diameter) silicon tubing (available from various sites) fits really well both ends...but I belt and braced it with spring clamps.

Seeing as I was so far in - tank off, airbox off...I replaced the plugs...

I also noticed, since putting handlebar risers on, that the clutch cable outer was wearing as it rubs on left hand lock against the headstock...so rerooted the clutch cable slightly to allow a little extra play...this was also easier with the tank off.

Not back together yet but a productive little day.

 

Sorry guys haven't replied for a while! had a tummy bug! got an asshole like a Japanese flag!!! Too much info? yeah thought so stripped down my carbs while I was close to the garage bog! they were clean but wanted to change the main jets out and put my new air- boxes on, somebody told me that when you put aftermarket exhausts on you have to swap out the main jets in the carbs and since I didn't put the pipes on I changed the jets, they had 210 main but in my draw I had some 132's seems bit big but hey-ho, the pilot jets were 40's that's ok,I slid the throttle needle up a couple of notches and re-fitted and started her up, screwed the pilot screw right in then out 2 turns as I have always done over the years. I wondered why since I have had the bike the DELKEVIC's would pop back at deceleration at high speed. When I have stopped running I will give her a road test but she is running lovely at tick-over good start eh?

 

Just had a call from the dealer to say all my replacement parts are in under warranty. Took a while but the below are being replaced
Rear seat cowl (due to single seat now on and rubber ring marks on the original)
Headlight surrounds (tarnish)
Fuel cap (tarnish)
Left side cover for pipes (rubbed away from just wearing jeans!)

Think thats it. Warranty is up in January so glad to get this done. Not the best bike for quality of materials but the rest of it more than makes up for it.

 

Were the fuel cap & Headlight surrounds already tarnished when you got your bike ceramic coated last year?
