Last weekend Mr. Sandi and I attended the Tucson Classics Car Show put on by the Tucson Rotary Club. It was on hold last year during Covid and this year people were out in droves. There were over 400 cars and pickups this year and about 23,000 people attended todays show.

This car was the first show car we saw as we entered the viewing area. And we later learned it took home Best in Show. :)

Before we even got to the actual show area I spied this awesome BSA parked in the "Motorcycle Only Parking" area. :) We were off to a fine start to the day!
    IMG_3318.jpeg

The show is held on the ground of The Gregory School, a private school serving students in grades 5-12. The school is on 35 acres and has a lot of open space, hence the partnership between the Rotary Club and the school for purposes of the show. It's also situated pretty much right dead center in the Tucson metro area. One of the things the school has is a bit of a "farm". I was captivated by the goat enclosure which is the second thing that caught my attention before moving on to the main attraction.
    IMG_3326.jpeg

I'm typically fairly wordy in my threads and posts  but this time 'round I'll let the images the wonderful cars and trucks in this years show doing the talking for me. My knowledge of classic cars is pretty rudimentary and I'll bet many of you know far more about these cool cars that I do. But I loved so many of the vehicles in this show--even when I didn't know much about them!

One of Mr. Sandi's friends of many years is a Tucson Rotary Club member so we always buy our tickets from Alan. This year he talked Mr. Sandi into buying V.I.P. passes which included a lunch and tickets for two beverages. Mostly we just wanted to support the organizations that the proceeds went to support. Lunch was ok. The beer was the best part. ;)

And finally......if you're still with me!!......I fell in love with this pair of cars. At this years show there was a guy who owned a 2008 Mustang Bullitt in Highland Green. Ford came out with commemorative editions of the Mustang Bullitt in 2001 and 2008 and then again in 2019 and 2020. Some of you know that I have a 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt. Mine's black.

    IMG_3503.jpeg

    IMG_3511.jpeg

AND he had a 1967 Mustang Bullitt, too! :D Both in Highland Green just like in the Steve McQueen movie. :) Yeah, the life-size cutout of McQueen was kitchy and silly....but I loved it. ;) And it was a delight to chat with the owner.

Wow - what a great event to get to experience, Sandi! Superb set of photos too... I felt like I was there with you.

Not sure which I fancy for myself - possibly the Fairline or the Woody, though

My favourite was the mini pick up truck! Of which, it'd probably fit into the boot (trunk) of most of the american cars :):)
All wonderful though and thanks for sharing your day @Sandi T !

Another great set of pics, Sandi - thanks! :) Car shows over here obviously have a different range for the most part so it's good to see some proper Americana for a change.

I think the Ford Woody is now my second favourite car name over. :D

@Sandi T do you ever have a day where you think - I’m bushed, I’ll just sit here and chill?

You have the ability to turn an otherwise routine drive to the nearest convenience store into a voyage of discovery and excitement!

    :joy:

    Many thanks - great photos.

That's too funny, @Cyborgbot. Actually, it's a very rare day that I sit and chill...although Mr. Sandi wishes that weren't so. ;):joy: To me, life IS a "voyage of discovery and excitement" though I've never quite phrased it so eloquently as you did.

Some very tasty looking 4 wheelers to choose from in that lot! I had a Corgi model Bricklin when I was a kid, reminds me of a Saab Sonnet but with a lot more Oomp! Given the choice of taking one home, PLEASE, it'd be a 427 Cobra with a 'Stang as a close 2nd choice. You can keep your modern Porsche, Ferrari, Mclaren etc and give me a classic any day. I noticed the blue Cobra replica has UK plates on it?

There was a sign at the end of one of the rows that indicated "Tucson British Car Register". I didn't snap a photo of the sign at the show but got curious after seeing your post, @Pegscraper. Here are a couple of screenshots and a link to the Tucson-based club.

Classics-wise I'd take home that Highland Green '67 Mustang. :grinning: Modern day I'd take home the Audi R8 that was calling my name. ;):joy:

    Ms. Sandi, Thank you!

I love going to car and bike shows and seeing all the great cars and motorcycles I stupidly sold or traded off in my misspent youth.

    Great pics!

Looking forward to The Gathering Of The Nortons in Washington's Crossing Park a bit north of here in April. It has been on hiatus due to the COVID B.S. The bikes don't have to be Nortons, although they are well represented, but they do have to be ridden in. It's awesome to see the old Triumphs, Vincents, BSAs, Beemers and such.

You're welcome, Jet! It was really a fun day with not only great car and truck watching but also some excellent people watching, too. Folks appeared truly happy to be out at an event after so many being cancelled due to Covid.
