Slapped on a Super Corse Oil Temp Gauge from AJ's. Kind of on the fence. Pretty blingy looking. Maybe I should've got the black one. Figured this version would be better vis for quick acquisition while on the go, esp @ night, of which I do a fair bit of nighttime runs.

It's the time of year again to break out the heated socks and the extra clothing layers and go out onto the country lanes to hone your skills navigating wet leaves and mud from farm traffic. But they'll be sunny days whatever the season and a few hours pootling along on quiet roads will do your soul a wonder of good
We're not quite as nesh further North . Still in Summer gear at the moment but the heated gloves are on standby! Will see about putting the thermal liner back in the new jacket if temps take a dive this weekend.
Shims arrived for the Scrambler so finished off the service, valves plus oil + filter etc. Found Suzuki shims were cheaper than "Triumph" parts. Did the usual checks with the Dealertool and all OK although I didn't "reset" the clocks as I'm curious to see when the service indicator comes up so I'll reset it if/when it does. As far as the throttle balancing function goes it's not really applicable to the Street Scrambler. You get a reading for both cylinders, which are identical which is probably down to the throttle body having a single venturi that feeds both pots, unlike some other models that have a twin venturi setup.
Took some elbow grease to the pipes. Before... After… Mother's chrome polish with .000 and .0000 steel wool, BTW.
I was out and about on my trophy 1200 yesterday and now that the petrol crisis appears to be over I thought I'd fill up with non-ethanol fuel for the winter. Turned into an Esso forecourt, 144.9p per litre for normal unleaded. I baulked, hoping that this is just a blip and maybe it'll drop in price next week..... That's £6.52 per imperial gallon, eek. No idea what the non-ethanol was but it's usually 5p per litre more than unleaded. Just to put this into perspective, I put some fuel in the trophy just over a week ago and that cost 134.9p per litre.
I'm paying 146 for E5 SU at a local Morrisons. In some local stations it's well over 150. A station on one of my favourite routes has stopped selling E5. When I fill the car (diesel) I now also fill a couple of cans with E5 for the bikes and also carry a litre when I'm out. Don't count on fuel coming down by an appreciable amount any time soon.
Today I rode my Speed Triple RS up Mt. Lemmon with a small (but mighty!) faithful contingent of our Sunday ride group. It has been quite awhile since we've been up Mt. Lemmon but Mr. Sandi and I thought it would be a good choice since the leaves on the trees up top have been turning plus in a few weeks it will be too cold to ride to the summit and there could be snow and ice. So up we went.... The distance from the base of the mountain to the parking lot at the top is about 25 miles. We stopped at the area commonly known as "Middle Bear" to don some warmer gear. Well, I needed to don warmer gear but it turned out I was the only one. I was glad that I did or I'd definitely have been uncomfortably cold. I added gloves liners, a puffy vest, and a neck scarf. Many of you will laugh that I'd have been cold--the temperature at the summit was in the mid-50's F. These photos were taken in the Middle Bear parking lot. At this point we're well above the desert area with its saguaro cacti and into the pine trees. You can see some of the damage done by the massive Bighorn Fire in the Catalina Mountains last summer. We'd planned to eat at The Iron Door but Mr. Sandi talked with the staff and evidently they were down both kitchen and wait staff and we'd have to wait half an hour just to order our breakfast. So we (well, I) snapped a couple of photos and we hopped right back on our bikes to head down the hill to breakfast back in Tucson. As I was taking the photo above, a woman who'd driven up in a side-by-side offered to take a photo of me and my bike. Very sweet of her. I very rarely get a photo of me with one of my bikes because I'm usually the one taking the pictures! While I was busy snapping a few pics, the guys decided we should dine at Poco & Mom's, a New Mexican restaurant that we all really like. Mr. Sandi and I love New Mexican food. It's like Mexican food generally but includes a lot of green chili, red chili, hominy, and blue corn. New Mexican Mexican food is my favorite type of "Mexican" food. It's one of the many reasons we love to ride to Santa Fe, New Mexico so much. Live to ride, ride to eat! We typically opt to sit on Poco & Mom's patio--both because it's a lovely, relaxing setting but also because we still feel more comfortable dining outdoors with the virus still in action. Today the patio was completely booked so we waited while a table in the "annex" dining room was prepared for our party of five. Our table was nearly like being outdoors since they could open the wall of this area pretty much from floor to ceiling. As usual, it was me and "the guys". Another woman had said that she was excited to join us. But she texted about two minutes prior to the meetup time that she'd neglected to plug her bike into the battery tender and it wouldn't start this morning. Live and learn--hopefully. I tried a new dish this morning and it was delicious--Chile Rellenos. I've had chile rellenos previously--many time--but this was the first time I'd ordered it at Poco & Mom's. It was delicious! It came with two eggs prepared as you like, refried beans, and tortillas. I requested the blue corn tortillas which I love. I think this restaurant is the only place in Tucson that makes blue corn tortillas.
It's a hard life sandiT! Thanks for making the forum jealous again! My day consisted of pulling grass from the dogs butt during multiple No2 walks... Only 1 winner here....
Oh my gosh, I laughed so hard that coffee nearly came out my nose when I read about your day, @Ducatitotriumph! We've recently had to pull hair from our dogs butt during our morning walks. Yeah, my long hair. Maybe I should just cut it off. Ellie the Boxer would agree, I think.
