Thanks I figured this out and edited the post. I have added a battery maintainer to the bike, and have ordered the connectors so I can link up a USB charger to the leads and charge the phone in the saddlebags.
Very smart. Red & White are the best colours! I also ran a USB cable from under the seat to my saddlebags. In the bag I have an octopus looking adapter with several different "ends" : mini USB, Type C, iPhone, etc... This was useful for phone and camera charging... especially if your buddy is filming all day! The SAE cable from the bike's battery can be used not only for the battery tender, but also for other items that need power e.g. I have a small 12v MotoPump tyre inflator (seems very accurate!) that I use, rather than a compressor and those generally inaccurate pencil type gauges. Both of these have been helpful to other riders when out in the middle of nowhere! Finally, you have some superb riding on Vancouver Island. Great memories of the Cowichan Loop, Tofino, Port Alice and Gold River roads I'm sure you'll be out exploring them soon Steve T.
I did order an SAE adapter for the custom Noco cable and an SAE-USB adapter. I always seem low on phone battery when i start my ride so I can charge the phone in the saddlebag once the parts come from China. I have also ordered some LEDs and a $0.49 relay to replace the turn signals — maybe that will work. Maybe I'll replace the headlamp too someday.
Hi Underdug, Welcome from another BC Newbie. Have in-laws in Sidney, so I ride the island when I can. Or, as I say to the wife, 'if we're getting on a ferry on a long weekend, we're getting on the bike'. (Random pic of bikes on ferry. No idea which one is mine).
