Same here in the New Forest. We got country lanes that 2 donkeys cant pass on. Full of amazing little villages, with pubs and local characters. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/da...Vgeh3Ch2lDA3TEAAYASAAEgJDH_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Only if you got some serious wet weather gear, and can tolerate angry little Welshmen, with a massive chip on their shoulders. :) A motorhome is the best way to tackle Wales.

Head north young man, and knock the locals off the dartboard in their pubs. That really pisses them off. It did back when they had a decent player anyway..Having said that, i got treated really well by the people in the village shops. Those that had not been taken over by Indians/Pakistani's anyway.

Thanks for the kind offer, @Col_C. I'm not sure we'll have much choice in the itinerary based on when GMU is scheduled, when we're on summer break from work, flights, and securing the services of a dog/house sitter! It's like a BIG puzzle. That said, we'll certainly be motivated to fit all the pieces to make it work! :):joy:

Completely understand, was just just giving you a heads-up on the UK being very different to the wide open spaces of the US. Peak holiday time here is July/August when the popular holiday spots get busy (even before Covid), with the recent foreign travel restrictions it has been horrendously overcrowded with Brit holiday makers flocking to the tourist hotspots. Hopefully by next year things will have returned to something more normal.

Thanks for the heads-up, @Col_C! It's good to know when the crowds converge as we do try to avoid that if at all possible. What is the month of June like generally? The last day of school/work for us is usually the last day or so of May and then we're on break all of June and nearly all of July. Actually, Mr. Sandi may be on break for good when this coming June rolls around. He's about 99% sure that he will retire for good after this school year. I'm not yet old enough (though closer than I'd like to admit) to being eligible for Medicare and I've a couple more years past that to be able to collect Social Security. So the two of us will still pretty much be beholden to my work schedule when planning our travels.

June is definitely quieter, our schools break from mid July through to early September so obviously this is when families with children have to take their holidays. We have a bank holiday last Monday in May so that week sees a bit more holidaying but not as bad as peak season.

Ah yes, the joy of driving through the St Ives one-way system in the summer as the emmetts randomly step in to the road they've mistaken for more footpath.

Looks a beautiful area, 4 mile it seems to nearest pub (7 mins car ride)

Suppose thats do-able we have brought our own in the past but always good having someone maybe in a car to provide other stuff needed, but realise thats going to be a canny drive as nearest is a further 10 mile further on than pub.

The thing is the emmetts are still reeling from the fleecing they've just had at the car park payment meter.
Double vision is in play for at least an hour.
