Hi everyone, I’m having troubles finding the specific stock jets, pilot and main sizes for my mikuni BST 36 3x36 mm carbs. Not even the service manual tells the stock info. I’ve searched and even talked with a parts department who sells triumph carb parts but there parts lookup shows 3 different part numbers for each jet. If anyone knows the exact specs I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance. Dan
If the bike was running well with the jets in there. Why not just clean them or replace for like. Joe.
Sorry I can't help with the info you want. I think the problem you have is that carb specs and jet sizes varied from state to state in the US due to differing emission laws. Is the bike not running OK with the current jetting? This takes me back to '85 and the 33mm Mikuni smoothbores I had on the Harris and more recently on the XR650 in 2010. All this "re-mapping" of modern ECU controlled engines is so much easier, assuming you have the software of course.
The bike is running fine. I cleaned all the jets thoroughly. I had the carbs cleaned by someone else and they changed the jets so I have no idea what the correct jet sizes are. Plus the cleaning job he did was no good. I also put new float assemblies and raised the clips to the very top notch with the spacer tight to the clip. It’s leaned as far as I can go without taking out the plastic shims. Still only 16 mpgs. Kinda at a stand still.
Hi The bike is running great. It’s just the mileage is only 16 mpg instead of 40. I cleaned them perfectly and also new float assemblies. Raised the clip on the needle jet all the way to the top and pushed the plastic spacer tight to the clip. Still running very rich. Without knowing the exact jet sizing I’m not sure which direction to go.
Hi All; I have a 96 Adventurer and need to clean the carbs - jets etc [again]. Would someone recommend a service manual that will guide me through removing, cleaning, and reinstalling the carbs with all cables etc. Thanks Much
Hi. I bought a Haynes manual. YouTube has a great video on cleaning the carbs. You probably have the same carbs my 96 Adventurer has. Let me know.
