    Hello
I am new to this forum, just bought myself a red 2022 Speedmaster. Dealer hopes it will be ready for pickup next week.
I have not owned a bike for a while, the last road bike I had was a Honda Gold Wing, that was many years ago. My first bike was a 1964 650 Trophy. I am still deciding on some accessories, to date I have ordered the rubber knee guards for the tank, the 12 volt power outlet, the luggage rack and passenger backrest.
I am still undecided on a windscreen ( have read some negative reviews of the Triumph screen). I am also thinking about paniers since we will do some day trips, nothing too serious as far as distance goes. Any advise /experience is welcome.

Welcome from a fellow Speedmaster rider :)

For screens, I've tried both the Dart Classic and Dart Marlin fly-screens but now use neither as I didn't like the noise from the turbulence.

I also had the Triumph panniers, which whilst worked OK didn't suit my touring needs as they were too small and not waterproof (the waterproof covers only good enough for light showers).

I now use the Kriega Saddlebags which are big, robust and totally waterproof; but the fixing and closings are awkwardly designed.

I also made a pillion seat because the Triumph offerings were rubbish. They've revamped that for 2021 but they still don't look up to touring. I've now done 30,000 miles in 3 years.

    Here's my setup...

Hi all, thanks for the warm welcome, I am looking forward to sharing my thoughts on the Speedmaster.

I have thought about getting another bike for some time, and after seeing an episode of Jay Leno’s garage where he rode the 2018 Speedmaster it seemed like the right bike for me. The area that I am from in Ontario seems to favour Harleys, I have rode others Sportsters and Road Kings and found the Sportsters uncomfortable and the Road Kings too much bike for my interests. I think the Speedmaster will be a good choice, that and it will look good in the garage beside my 1976 TR6 (car). Thanks again for the welcome, looking forward to picking up the bike, will let you know first impressions.

I meant to mention that I fitted the 12V outlet too, the wiring for this is already part the wiring loom under the tank and it has a 5 Amp fuse. So, depending on how you plan on using the outlet, you may have to factor in the 5 Amp limit.

I thought I mention this because the tyre pump I bought to take on my travels draws a bit more current than this, so I ended up wiring an SAE connector directly to the battery. Thinking about this now, maybe I could have done my own wiring for the Triumph DIN / Hella outlet because I'm sure the connector itself would be good for 10 Amps, judging by other things that use that style of connector. Hmm..

Brown Mouse, thanks for the info on the 12V outlet. It will not be delivered with the bike, sounds like it is on backorder, so I will likely be installing. I will likely only need it for phone charging so 5amp will be OK, where does it get attached on the bike?

It should come with fitting instructions. If not, you can get them from https://www.triumphinstructions.com.

In this case it's this PDF
    https://www.triumphinstructions.com/ProdDocs/A9820031-EN.pdf

    Edited to add...

Note that the outlet isn't switched off with the ignition, so don't leave anything plugged into it when not using thie bike.

For emergency USB charging I carry an Optimate O105 USB Charger in my panniers. That claims to switch off off after 3 hours or if battery going flat. (Don't know how it knows when bike is switched off, perhaps because when running the voltage will be about 14V from the regulator?) But even 'switched off', the unit will be drawing a tiny current and I wouldn't leave it for a long time.

A plus of the 12V outlet being unswitched is that you can use it to charge the battery.
