This picture somehow reminds me of a previous GMU rideout but in fact it is some arseholes on bikes, holding Taliban flags, gathering near the Friendship Gate crossing point in the Pakistan-Afghanistan border town of Chaman, Pakistan.

D6AE1775-7EBA-48CC-BA66-FACA03A1C859.jpeg Shooting a movie in our neighborhood. A League of Their Own sequel. Girls baseball league during WWII. Antique cars lined the whole street. Probably looked for someplace with the cobblestone streets.

Had a run up to Glencoe yesterday, i absolutely love it there. i was going to stop off at my usual place for lunch (The Clachaig) but i decided to see what the Kings House Hotel looked like as it had been done up a few years ago, you can see it from the road, if your travelling from the south it's on the right just past Glencoe ski centre.
we stayed at the original hotel when we did the West Highland Way several years ago. It has been totally transformed now, they also have a bunkhouse which is £35.00 a night

I took these photos a couple of days ago when our monsoon rains really got rolling. I've never seen a bloom on this particular cactus in all the years it has been in my front yard--nearly 20 years! I took a couple of photos that include the bloom but show the whole cactus so you can see the size of the cactus relative to the bloom. Plus it's always amazing to me how such a prickly, rugged plant can produce so beautiful and delicate a flower. :)

Having a short break in the delightful old city of Durham. Happened upon an MG rally on Sunday at the cathedral.

Worth a visit then Jack? I could compare it to the view from the top of Salisbury cathedral which certainly IS worth a visit - the engineering inside that tower and spire is fantastic.

Durham is lovely, been there many times when my wife was in the hotel industry. Stayed at the Three Tuns a couple of times and also the Marriott. Some nice pubs and restaurants, can recommend the Thai overlooking the river.

Yes, a great long weekend or midweek break city. We also drove out to Middleton in Teesdale to see the two waterfalls.

Also took the long way back via Hartside Pass (no pics) the road from Middleton to Alston was a blinder, absolutely no one on it. It was even fun in my Astra estate :grinning:
