Just a query on synthetic brake fluid. I replaced my pads on my Bonneville for organic from the ebc brake shop. Went out today boy I thought I had forgot to put the pads in. The front I had to keep squeezing to get anything The rear I could have stood on it and nothing. Any thoughts peeps. The fluid has been there now for two years. Joe.
Sound like air in the system to me. Maybe try bleeding it out and putting fresh oil in as you do. If ur unlucky you may need to pressure flush from the bleed nipple (ooo er mussus) to the oil reservoir with a syringe or similar tool.
Thanks Chaps. the front still has bit there. And I just changed the pads. But I will have to try a bleed. Littleade yes I have ordered some new just to be sure just don't know how long it is supposed to last Joe
Is it the new pads that need bedding in before they give the “bite” you are used to. Brake fluid needs changing at least every two years to keep the system in top order.
What pads were in before the change? Not sure what "organic" means in brake pad terms but if you had sintered metal pads in previously then you should replace like with like. Stainless steel discs usually require sintered pads. If the brakes were fine before the change, assuming you haven't got air in the system (can't see how you would do that on a pad change) fluid won't be the problem. Give the pads time to bed in.
New pads are often spongy until they have bedded in but i found that organic pads did not stop me as well as HH sintered pads on my old sprint.
