Hi guys again! Thank you for your help already. Last time you rocked and got things going again.

So.. My problem is about starting my motorcycle. It has been very bad and wet days here for a while and my bike stands outside with no cover as mother nature gives it's best as a heavy rain.

It was friday morning when i wake up and i was going to be late from the work. So i was hurrying and try to get my bones to work. It was heavy rain again at night, but getting better, but bike was still wet. I went to my bike, put keys on and push start-button.. rolling, trying, rolling.. no. No start.. several times, rolling, trying, rolling no.. No start.. i tried and tried and no.. Little bit more and then i only heard Clik, again start button and click.. Sh*t! No more power.. Back to home, change the gear and took my car to go to work..

After i got back home i put the battery to a charge to make it full again. So after loading, everything looked good and there was plenty of power in battery (13.9volts)

went to bike and put things together and put the keys on and push the start button.. Click,, and again.. Click.
I start getting worried what has happened. Bike has almost new gel-battery, coils been changed about 1,5 years ago. Plugs are fine and bike works really nice in normal condition. This is something new and i haven't struggled things like this before.

Then i tried to push my bike to get it start. It was hard cause no downhill to help.. I push it and tried with 3rd gear and push start button.. no! Did this three times but no, it didnt start. Then i tried start-button once more and it started to roll engine and H*ll yeah! I runs! It really runs. Let it run short and then i shut it down and tried again.. Push the start button and Click, Once more and click! F*ck.. i started to get frustrated! Then i try to push my bike and start it with 3rd. gear and start button.. No.. Then i try only push the start button and it's rolling engine and boom! It start's and run! ! "This must be somekind of spiritual thing" i was laughing in my mind.

The i let the bike run and get warm. Runs nice. Takes RPMs like a dream and sounds like everything ok.
After i get engine hot and cooling system starts to cool the radiator, i shut the engine. Then i try start with button and boom, it starts as it should be. No problem! I let my bike stay for 2 hours. Go eat and do stuff and planned to go for a ride. Back to bike, keys on and start button pressed.. Boom! Starts like a charm! No problem.. I go riding around city. Visit stores and my friend. No problem. Starts every time and runs nice..

4 hours later i find myself from the store to get some drinks and food. I was so pleased, that everything works again and get back to my bike, put the keys in and push the start-button and CLICK! Fooooo*k! Not again!
Need to push my bike and 3rd gear on with clutch and start.. no start and then try Start-button again and BOOM! It runs and here we go again! Got back to home and opened beer and start to write for you guys!

What is this issue? Never had this before and don't know what causes this! Only i know.. My bike don't like heavy rain. I had little starting issues before also if there has been big rain, but bike always started before.

Is This bad Start Solenoid or even Bad Startermotor? I already have problems with my car also so i really hope this is not something really expensive and hard to do.. This is kinda riddiculous! After i get parts for my car from the post to get it fixed, my bike starts to do this! Bad Karma, luck or something.. don't know but im getting mental

Bike has 58000kms and not sure if start solenoid and starter motor are the original ones.
10000kms ago i changed the original Gills -coils to PVL as the bike had some problems with idle and it helped! Thanks for your advices here!

    Hi Sami.l
I would suggest that you have a bad connection in the starter relay wiring area, corrosion that is worse when dampness is in the air. Pull connecters apart looking for green gunge, clean up and fill with silicon grease.
Good luck, intermittent electrical faults are a real pain.

Today it's been sunny and warm day. +20. No problems! Started with first try. No clicks. I used contactspray for all connectors, wirings, starter, solenoid etc.. Also cleaned and wax the bike. Everything works fine. Drive about 80km's. Start and stop several times with no problems. I really hope it was just bad contact. Let's see how it operates upcoming days and weeks. Weather is getting very nice and sunny also here in finland. Thanks for advice!

Noup... Click is here again :expressionless:

I think starter brushes are gone or starter has a bad spots. copied this from another forum:

"First, make sure the starter terminal has 12 volts on it when you push the start button. Then, put the bike in top gear and rock it backwards. This will turn the starter motor backwards a little; you should hear it sort of whine. Then, try to start it again. If it starts that indicates your starter brushes are worn or the starter has a dead spot. If it doesn't start, that still points to the starter itself."

It's just like that! Bike starts from button after this!

Also tried to connect solenoid terminals with screwdriver (forced start).
Neutral, power on, screwdriver to terminals. No.. Starter does nothing.

I think this is quite clear? Sometimes bike starts, sometimes not. if it wont, little push with the gear, start button and it starts. Worn brushes

So i think new starter or repairkit for it.
