The Gammons' Gazette is always good for a laugh. Today's Mail Online has a news story about the collapse of a rock formation in the Galapagos Islands. It bears the headline: The Galapagos Islands' Darwin's Arch collapses 186 years after the pioneering naturist's visit to the islands inspired the theory of evolution. I never knew that Darwin was a 'pioneering naturist', but it's amazing what you can learn from the Mail...
It conjures up visions of a bearded Victorian scholar wandering about in the scud.... I imagine the conversation in the Mail newsroom: "Who was this Darwin, then? " Dunno, but I Googled it, and it said something about a 'theory of evolution', whatever that is, and that he studied nature a lot." "Studied nature, did he? Oh well, call him a naturist then - common sense innit. Readers won't have heard of him anyway."
when I used to be a highway engineer many moons ago, I replaced over 100 of those in the area I worked after a young cyclist was killed by riding into one.
