Hiya Andy, we bought a new 390 duke and a gen 2 super duke r, preferred it over the gen 3 for the looks.
    Both are fantastic bikes :)

I had the gen2 for 3 and a bit years, best bike I ever owned! Toured Spain, Scotland and beyond in all weathers and it never once had a single issue. Gave it dogs abuse and it never failed to impress. Very practical and outrageous fun! Recently changed to the gen3. Didn't like it when it came out, not as angular and didnt like the pipework but grown to like it. Health to ride, those KTM's get under your skin once you've owned one :)

Absolutely mate, I love mine, everything just works and I've got the love for motorcycling again.
Do you think the gen 3 is a much better improvement?

Theres quite a big difference in handling and seating position, other than that its very similar. I probably wouldn't have changed only mine was due its big service and I though feck it, I'm going to have to spend money anyway :joy:... the new one is a bit more aggressive regarding the riding position and feels more eager to be ridden hard through the corners. I'd say its easier to ride fast but its no more fun than the gen2 was. Both are absolutely brilliant machines! Fuel range has taken a hit on the gen3. I've managed 180 miles on a tank before, this one I have the light coming on about 120.

Unfortunately it too early for those reports yet. Almost no one has the bikes yet, or they just got them. It took at little while before people started reporting false neutrals with the RS 1050. I really hope it not an issue with the new bike.

44teeth are great...but they are sometimes fullofshit, like mentioned above.
I also prefer the way Michael Neeves does reviews, without bs and without stupid music.

I have not ridden the 1160 (or 1200 as they call it) but I will.

Personally, I doubt it will be as fun as 1290R Superduke 3.0 (with electronics package).

If I were getting something "with soul" and for giggles I would get the 1290R, what a bike!

I am currently owner of 2020 Speed RS with QS/B (no false neutrals for the whole 6000km I have ridden it from new).

Independent of how good the 1200RS is, if I change my Speed RS it will be for Beast 3.0.

I only had a quick glance at 1200RS in black. Well, it has less carbon fiber than 1050RS and it has funny colors on those engine covers, 1050RS engine is all black. It does feel lighter and narrower than 1050RS, 1050RS is so butch, I love it personally.

If you ever do decide to change to the beast... you want the electronics package as you well know. Good chance you'll get it for free if you negotiate! I got the tech pack thrown in, which is every electronic upgrade there is. About 800 quids worth I think :)

Well, in Switzerland it is impossible to negotiate free-of-charge-package, KTM is popular here, 1290R sells pretty well, 890R sells like hot cakes, and 690SMCR sell like...what is next level after hot cakes? :)

Can someone who speaks German more definitively translate 13:20 to 14:20? He's talking about little niggles with the bike.

Practical Sportsbikes / Performance Bikes did a review on the 1200RS
they reckon its got potential to be a great bike but let down by the electronics and rear suspension. Note, they say it is actually quite soft on the rear despite people complaining its too hard so may be bottoming out ?? or I think it could be too much high speed compression damping?. Local Ohlins centre can re-shim cheaply if needed. I actually stood on one in the dealers and bounced on the pegs. It felt quite plush .
Wil test ride and check the electronics but with rear shock , that can easily be sorted to suit my weight and riding style.

still waiting for the bike, due in any time, with what’s going on all they have is end of May. The dealer is swapping the tyres for free, and as i a getting the tpms fitted, they have to remove the tyres anyway.

the black bikes look really nice but a long delay and was unsure about the grey until I saw it in the flesh and loved the colour.

you getting any of the accessories ?

For anyone with a new 1200 in grey, have you tried to remove the warning stickers from the top of the tank

I have, it's super easy and the stickers hardly leave any residue. No adhesive remover needed or anything like that. All the stickers come off in one piece
