New to the group. Have s 17 triple RS and came from an 09 triple. Any had comfort issues on the RS? After about an hour on the bike I have hip pain, never had this before
Hi Colin and a very warm welcome to the forum, yes the seat is a little hard compared to the earlier 09 model, you could ask Leighton's (specialist seat coverings) if they can recover and place gel inserts into your seat, they do top quality work.
I sold my rs because of the discomfort, I found being pitched forwards into the tank caused me no end of discomfort.
I'm not sure what you were doing to get "pitched into the tank", I know they have good acceleration but not that much to case an issue. I have had a couple of STRS and never experienced that as an issue, and I ride somewhat spirited, seems a little extreme to sell a lovely bike, you could have considered fitting tank grips. A recent ride out on a Panigale 1299s and hard acceleration didn't pitch me into the tank, and this thing is very very quick.

I don't get any pain but I do find it a bit annoying that the seat fits you in one position. I'm used to being able to slide back more when I want.
I rode in to work today, and while I take my coffee break, I can tell you that I have also gotten hip pain on longer rides on my speed triple, but usually not until I have been on the bike for more than an hour. I have also gotten leg cramps, but can't say if that was the cold, dehydration, or just re-acclimating after a winter hiatus off the bike (although this was also happening towards the end of the riding season last year, too). I love the way the Speed Triple rides (I have a 2012 Speed Triple R), but am looking for more comfort on longer rides now, and just last night put down a deposit on a 2019 Speed Twin the dealer got back on a trade. Just getting on and off the bike was a revelation when I went to check it out, and I noticed the difference even more when I got back on my R for the ride home. I also owned a 2001 Speed Triple, before there were any variants, and while I have been a big believer that this was the bike for all occasions for me up until now, I am starting to use the bike differently, for longer group rides and not just commuting/solo riding. I am starting to see the benefit of getting something different for different circumstances.
