And on my walk the previous day this hawk came zooming by me and posed in a nearby tree. When I got just a bit too close, he took flight and swooped past me again but this time only a few feet away!

Here is a picture of the magnolia tree in my back garden. It is beautiful but only flowers for a few days each year and will likely suffer with the frost that is forecast over the next few days.

That's gorgeous, Steve. Hopefully the forecast will be off, as is often the case...

Can only hope. We had a hard frost this morning, so likelihood is that we will for the next few days.

That'd be nasty, those new leaves are so fragile...

Only some of them, I think the red leaved versions are a bit slower.

I've only got two - a Japanese and and a Korean one. The (red) Japanse one looks to be quicker.

Yes, I am, andy! Mr. Sandi is graciously paying for half of it as a Valentine's Day gift. Yeah, I'm running a bit behind on my research. The holdup is me getting up the gumption to pull out all my "old" gear (all Canon 7D-related) and delineating what I have to get trade estimates so I can "clean house" plus get a bit of a price break. In fact, doing that is #1 on my list for tomorrow. Well, maybe #2 after going for a ride. ;) BTW, I'm still leaning pretty hard towards the Olympus Om-D E-M5 Mark III.

That's true, Dawsy! That "Meep Meep" in the cartoon is not nearly as big as Wile E. Coyote. In reality, a roadrunner is about the size of a coyote's tail. :joy:

I doubt you'd go wrong with any modern camera to be fair. Good luck with your decision anyhow... after that ride of course, priorities and all that :p

Takes me back. I last visited Mousehole in 1967. It was after the Torrey Canyon hit the rocks and I was in the Royal Engineers. We were tasked with surveying all of the Cornish coastline that we could get to for oil slick pollution. For the first week or two we were billeted in the beach huts in St.Ives !

Unfortunately although native (introduced maybe by the Romans) they are mostly bread for shooting....bloody pain on the roads though....hence English roadrunner.
