image.jpeg so! my wife found my boxes of goodies!! "What do you need these for?" she asks through gritted teeth and fists clenched, "uh oh " thinks I " get out of this one!!"
"Well darling" I ooze " you know I had Doris mot'd the other day? Well, they said there was a strong smell of petrol and said the petrol cap seal had gone and I should replace it due to risk of fire! so I bought a new leak free for life one" "Yeeees?!" She wavers. Promising signs methinks "and also they suggested protecting the underneath of the engine as there was some corrosion on the engine lubepipe banjo joint which could fail and cause an engine seizure before the next mot and you can't buy that on its own so I had to get the engine coolant rotater block protector too." I almost failed there with a slight hesitation, she was looking a bit dubious again. My next problem was the fender eliminator bracket and led light, well I cracked here, I held the part up with a big grin on my face and stupidly said ..." And won't her arse look wonderful in this!?!"
What I want to know is: how do women manage to turn any household item into a weapon with the equivelant flight characteristics and accuracy of a guided missile?

I always order a container full of goodies whenever the wife comes back sheepishly from a shopping trip. I always say" don't worry darling, so long as you had a good time that's fine" as I walk away rubbing my hands with a stack of aftermarket parts catalogues under my arm;)

So funny, are all of us guys the same
I thought I was the only one doing it ha ha ha
I remember buying some nice shiney supermotard wheels for my Drz 400 at a cost of £700
Told the wife they were just a few hundred she never caught on ..... That was until
I had a dinner party at my house and she over heard a conversation between a few of my mates
Talking to them about my latest purchase so she said how much were the wheels £200 I said
Again how much were the wheels £300 I said ,we'll eventually I got to the magic figure
And we'll she hit the effing roof all my mates thought it was funny
Funny thing is I still don't tell the wife how much I spend she doesn't trust me one bit
    Can't understand why happy days

She got used to it with the amount of stuff I bought for the Bonnie.
I work from home so what arrives during the day she doesn't see!
If ever she comments on the amount of bike gear I have - I just come out with that old standby "well how many handbags does one woman need?"

When my wife noticed something new on the bike I used to say what she does when she got new clothes/accessories "Oh, i've had that ages"
but now I just come up straight with "It wasnt really nececcery but I really wanted it"

My Granddad suggested I "show her the furry side of my hand".....thankful to say I'm a slightly more modern man (Images of Del Boy with his Filofax spring to mind)

So instead I just set a reminder in my phone to buy her flowers every now and then!

I think once you have been rumbled like crispey has they get more vigilant and start to spy on you normally while you are out biking (the untrusted one) a dodgy partner that squirrels bike parts in his shed :D I have been picked up on this on our credit card account as this is checked by my wife very carefully then it question and answer time:( I just tell my darling wife that I cannot remember and I will look into it this gives me time to make up a reason for purchase or its forgotten ( I do not put my payment slips in the draw for her to check, I tell her must be in a pocket somewhere or thrown it and my comments like I hate bits of paper) so she only can check what she or we have spent together so I can pipe up here with did you or we need that, that was expensive, but then a do sell on some of my bike stuff on and when I had a offer for buying some items recently for £190.00 and she turns round and commented take it and I say no its worth more and ask for £290.00 and my counter offer is accepted it makes her look a bit silly:p and me the sensible one:rolleyes:,
As for parts coming in the post if marked in my name don't open it as I need to inspect it for damage and its packing for smaller parts if asked is that for the bike I say yes, if it is, and reply well nothing last forever or it needs updating or its need to keep on top of running repairs to save further expense then after a while it becomes expected:) my man cave is a no go zone in her mind only bikes and a lots of piled boxes and a spiders haven :)

    Same here -
Joint household account and our own separate ones - the best system without a doubt!
