This weekend I went back to the farm and took my girlfriend. For Saturday night's special dinner I took her to the prairie nut hut (home of the original sac lunch). We had a couple beers and dined on some fried pickles for appetizers, followed by some fried bulls testicles. She swore she wasn't going to eat them, but tried them and liked them. https://www.google.com/search?q=Pra...gvyS9exCpWUJSYWZSZqpBXWqKQAcQFYAkAKgiARIMAAAA
Sweetbreads in this part of the world. In truth, l wouldn't do cartwheels down the street if l thought they were my tea, but a leg up from the sheep's brain l had in Egypt
It's not that long since sheep's brains were on sale in the butchers, especially in the markets. Never tried them myself but my eldest sister says my grandmother used to do them for her and they were delicious.
Head cheese from cattle brain's is available at most grocery store deli meats sections here. Never tried it yet on a sandwich. As a kid when a cow was processed we got everything but the bones, brain's, intestines, skins, hoves, and the moo. Did I mention liver, lots of liver.
Your girlfriend has a sense of adventure, @Old dumb arse! Or at least she's a good sport and willing to give something new a try. I have to admit that I thought you might be playing a belated April Fool's joke until I clicked on the link and read about this place. I'd definitely stop in there for a bite--it definitely is a place with a lot of character! But I'd probably go for that green chili burger over the balls.
That reminds me the joke of the guy used to order bull testicules at the restaurant near the arena in Spain. One day the guy wonder why the testicules are unusually so small? The waiter told him "sorry sir, that time the bull won"
Dated a southern girl once that fed me with old fashioned mountain oysters. After the meal she told me what I had eaten. My response was PIGS WHAT!!
I certainly do! Nothing but the best @Sandi T. I even allowed her to finance the whole trip, the motel, the meals, the gas, the whole nine yards. Oh BTW, if we get married SHE wants to have the ceremony at the primitive cabin. LoL
I’m a sweetbreads fan, but not that fussed on mountain oysters. Not supposed to eat either now as they have Uric acid causing purine in them
