I did this mod earlier on my 2010 se easy enough to carry out and no cutting into the loom bracket inc all bolts and spacers from Evilbay Motone just thought I'd share this if anybody else fancies swapping the switch from the left of the headlamp
Excellent step by step video I basically followed this I'm sure this has been done before or posted on the site was so pleased with the outcome thought I'd share
It improves the aesthetics when relocated and tucked away on the frame. As standard it spoils the lines around the headlamp cluster. At least that's why I did mine.
I have a bikini fairing which I think sort of disguises the aesthetics of the ignition location. I also fitted fork gaiters which 'blends' the rectifier horizontal fins. So for me, both fine where they are, I tend to leave well alone.
Just posted about this on the other thread - when I moved the switch on my old T100 i didn't find it any easier to use and actually thought it looked worse and spoiled the look of the bike more than than the original. Surely this would be the best position?
I was thinking of moving my ignition to the right on my Thruxton, as I find it a pain having to go into neutral to free my left hand up to turn key off when I pull up, and then have to put it back in gear when I park.
If I was going to the trouble to move the ignition switch I'd go for the between the clocks position, as per Steve's photo. I can't see any real advantages to swapping sides for the hassle involved in doing so.
I move mine its much better especially as I put shorter indercaters on and I had to push the indicator forward to get the key in plus I think it looks better
Hello, This is how I moved mine, when I fitted shorter indicators it made it difficult to get the key in the hole so I made up an ally bracket and sprayed it black, then found a blanking grommet for the redundant hole. It is a lot easier to use being slightly higher up. Hopefully have added some photos.
The diference is on a 2009 all the lights are there under the gauges u have to buy a complet new insterment braket where as shifting to below the tank is 50cents for a plug and $40 for the ignition braket
