Hi everyone. Please I have the problem with start the bike when the motor is cold. I have to try several time to start the motor. the bike is new, he has 8000km. this problem is there from the first use. now is at the service for 6 month and nobody knows what should be the problem. Please do you have any idea? Or do you know someone who could help? Thank you very much. Milan
HI! Sometimes you have to press the start a bit longer to avoid repeated start. I found my ST 1050 could start at the first time, but after 4-5 seconds. If I just try 2 seconds, I'll have to try again 2 or 3 times. Then I'll do a connection check. Battery leads, solenoid relay, starter. I'll check all connectors are tighten and clean. Check your battery voltage also. Maybe consider a lithium battery (I never tried), but from what we can read, those batteries have some extra juice for starting.
Has it got a lithium battery on it and is it cold outside? Only reason I ask is that those batteries don't like cold weather starting and do take some "waking up" to start sometimes. However, being an "alpine" edition, you would have thought they might have thought of that........
Generally battery's and low temps don't get on and degrade the battery if left for a period in very cold weather battery will discharge faster and will degrade faster first keep the battery fully charged at least once a week if below zero, a lot of modern bike ignition systems will not fire if the battery voltage is low.
Ow do Have you tried replacing the remote battery, the new keyless ones need replacing more regularly? When you crank the motor pull the Clutch in as well, this pulls a little more pressure off the starter motor.
