I need to buy a rear stand for maintenance work for my new 2014 Triumph Street Triple. Is there a specific type I need ? Do I need to install spools to be able to lift it with a stand ? As you can tell this is my first Triumph. Would this stand do the job ?
That stand will do, you will need to buy spools/bobbins to screw into the swing arm. Get someone to help you the first time you try to put it on the stand! Its easy enough on your own but if your not familiar or used to putting it on the stand it can be tricky on your own.
Just look for 'paddock stand bobbins (rear)' for your model and year of motorcycle. They're not universal, as such, but there are common sizes to the mounting bolt threads.
As Aide says, look for spools specific to your bike, Most will probably fit, I think they are M8 bolts but cant remember for sure.
Spotted these on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-...-/363017442140?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292
Depends first spools, that were supposed to fit weren't long enough to allow enough clearance for the stand past the swing arm. My 2019 street doesn't have a good gripping spot so a friend to spot the bike helps the first couple of times you lift
