I don't bother with the sound. Never do in the car either. It's easy enough to navigate with a TomTom just using visual.

Hi everyone, new to your forum just bought a 2015 Trophy Se I've been riding a Kawasaki VulcanCustom LT but I didn't like the vibration at 70+mph I am planning some long trips.... Anyways I have been using my phone with an APP called "Waze" and It is good in the city, my concern is its reliability when getting out of cell phone tower range. So does TomTom or Garmin solve this problem or do I need a satellite connection, if so how much does that cost per month +/-
Lastly, I'm looking for a good Triumph mechanic in the Boston area if anyone has someone they could recommend I'd appreciate it. Thanks Don

Thanks for your response. So if I am out of cell phone tower signal range I have 2 options 1. Is my phone utilizing the downloaded maps with no traffic updates or the TOM TOM or Garmin option which is sattelite connected and will hopefully provide real time traffic updates, recent road closures etc.. Now because the GPS units work off a satellite signal or can work off a satellite signal there will be a monthly bill to pay Correct? Secondly, it appears the Trophy may have come with the hardware for a "Serius service" (sp ?) which is sattelite operated, Does this service (Serius) offer the navigation link as part of their service or are they separate services.? And last ,any recommendations for GPS and model # for strictly street driving ,no off road dirt biking ?? Thanks in advance for your assistance. Don from Boston

On a serious note, I thought if you have your destination put into Waze (Which I do use) it downloads the route so hopefully it would still help when out of signal range

I know this doesn't 100% help but I 'think' you would be okay :/

There's no monthly bill with Sat Nav GPS units.

Ultimateaddons do a perfect case. I had the 6S, and their case is superb. I now have an A51, so use their generic case. Although good, it's not the perfect match of their model specific.

I personally like a separate TomTom for navigation and my phone clearly visible for music and calls. Both sit well together on my Sprint ST 1050.

Don, my son and I do a lot of riding around New England (we're from CT). Both of us use a Garmin GPS. He plots a course from Google Maps, transfers it to his Garmin, then mates his Garmin to mine, so that we both have the same route. We both use Cardo Packtalks, and the Garmins can be bluetoothed to the helmet speakers, so it becomes a handsfree operation when we travel

Actually, it's a great help, So I just need to make sure I download my route prior to leaving and I should be fine with no towers. I just would not have any of the feedback such as traffic ahead, speed traps, the car stalled, accident. I just wonder, should a traffic jam occur, I would have to manually determine an alternate route if that's possible, without service. (Paper Map as a backup?)
Has anyone been in this situation? For Long distance trips how often should one expect no signal? Is there any legitimate map of actual signal coverage that could be trusted when planning my journies?
