Feckin cheek if you ask me, they place their order 3 months after the UK, it’s the plants in the EU that aren’t delivering and yet they want some of our supply.
Fecking cheek alright, after years of being extremely awkward with us and trying to spite us at every turn... and then blocking the channel tunnel for Christmas...
The EU Commision said that they don’t agree with first come first served basis and that they want their drugs. Drugs that aren’t approved yet in the EU but could be used elsewhere that have already licensed the vaccine to save lives. Rather than speculate they will get approved (not a given since the Germans are kicking off about the efficacy in over 65s) and stock pile, surely it’s better to administer now to people that want it? Using the EU argument, they clearly won’t mind if say India popped in an order months after them for a few hundred million jabs and insisted there is no queuing system and walked off with the EU doses... The EU are trying to shift the blame for own idiotic inefficient and ineffective processes. Probably caused because they were trying to figure out how to make a back hander from it or navigate 27 nation’s private agendas. I had the misfortune to have to attend many workshops in Brussels with double dealing EU fiends. They made a packet out of their attendee fees (sitting in committees) and promising to ‘listen’ to the people there. Never did.
Hungry have got fed up with the EU and are administering the Sputnik vaccine from Russia. Brussels aren’t at all happy.
Apparently some EU press are siding with AstraZeneca and even saying maybe Brexit wasn’t such a daft idea afterall... Don’t know how true that statement is, as I read it on the interweb - though levels of fakes news have dropped dramatically since Trump stopped Tweeting.
Shortage in vaccine prduction is global, the Moderna one also struggles on production level. All that is really bad, and the worst is to come. the second jab will probably be out of immune covering range. Difficult to raise the goal of immunity like that. Shortage is not the only issue. EU ordered the vaccine as a whole to get a better price. US and UK ordered last summer, EU in November. First ordered first delivered. EU invested 336 Million euros in AstraZeneca (Belgium plant). They start to pressure about. The plant is about to be inspected to understand the poor production level.
Hope they don’t mix up their Novichok and Sputnik stockpiles... Nah, they probably have the same effect so doesn’t matter.
Yes it was a lovely BBQ and company. I’m waiting till I can return the favour. At this rate maybe by 2025
I have a feeling every citizen would need an immunisation passport to be able to travel by the end of this year
