Hi all, Just purchased my first Triumph a 1996 Thunderbird 900 - really looking forward to learning all about. Terry
Thanks very much appreciated. I do have some questions if you can help. when you turn on the ignition does the oil light come on with the neutral light. Mine isn't. I'm also assuming the temperature warning light is an over temp light and will only light up if it gets too hot is that correct. I only have the neutral light on when the ignition is turned on. It may just be a bulb and if so do you know where I can source one - they seem very small. Also, I never got the owners manual with the bike and sourcing one is proving difficult and ides where i can get one. Many thanks
You can download the owners manual here https://www.triumphmotorcycles.com/offers-and-services/manuals
First, welcome to the group and congrats with a great bike. Pictures are always welcome. As for your question, the answer is yes, it should come on when you turn the ignition on. As you need to replace bulbs anyway, I recommend converting to LEDs. As you may have noticed, the original lights are pretty darned impossible to see in direct sunlight.
Welcome to the forum, Terry, and to the wonderful world of Triumph! We're looking forward to seeing a photo or two of your new-to-you Thunderbird.
Thanks for the response. Really appreciated. I'll check the bulbs tomorrow and post on here the results.
Thanks for the reply, its probably just a bulb blown I'll check it out later and let you know the results, and yep I'll post some pics as well.
Well it wasn't the bulbs so the oil pressure Switch needs to be replaced - easy enough just need to source one now.
Hi you are right the lights are hard to see in the sun-light, so details of the LED route would be most welcome. I want to keep the bike as standard as possible but as long as I can revert it to standard if needed that will be good - is it just a bulb change? cheers Terry
